Actifed, Aprodine, Etc

Background: Been taking 1 Actifed/Aprodine a day for at least 30 years. Started taking it for allergies and discovered as I got older and had trouble sleeping that it helped greatly with that. (Some folks have the opposite side effect and it makes them hyperactive.) Like most of those posting here it is getting harder and harder to get even though I have a prescription from my physician to purchase it in bottles of 100. No dice. Aprodine seems to have phased it out in 100s likely because it's much cheaper than the blister packs.

Question: My allergist tells me Actifed is one of the "older" antihistamines and that it has the ability to penetrate the blood/brain barrier and that this quality may have negative implications for long term usage. And that is all I can find out, but really want some highly experienced and qualified opinions on this from a professional. Thanks.

Pseudoephedrine is limited to 3.6 grams per day 9 grams per 30 days by federal law. Aprodine is the old Actifed and has 60 mg of per tablet so sixty per day is the limit. The blister packs are 24 pills per pack so only two per day. Costco has it for $1.39 per 24 and Walgreens has Wal-act for $7.99 per 48.

You answered your own question, taking it for 30 years is pretty much all the proof one could need.
