I recently got my prescription filled and discovered that my generic Watsons changed to actavis. They are horrible!! They don't work even close to Watsons! Im in pain because they don't work as well. Im very disappointed and will be finding a different pharmacy!!!!

Why can't they just leave our meds alone? I agree, even though endocet didn't work well for my pain at least it didn't give me all the horrific side effects Actavis oxy/APAP did! All this changing of medications is driving people crazy! One month we have pain relief and the next one.....or six......we have none! Would they live this way or let a loved one of theirs live this way? I don't think so! I bet Actavis tells their family and friends to accept any generic but theirs because it doesn't work! Lol. (No laughing matter but I think you get my point!) I'm extremely tired of it!

Tracy...that's true. I found out that Qualitest is owned by Endo pharmaceuticals and the ingredients for the Endocet is exactly the same as the Percocet. The meds are working ok for me, they seem a bit less effective than the Percocet but for me they are better than all the other generics out there.

Hi Jennifer. I had the same symptoms, as you know, as everyone else when taking the actacrap and I wasn't on oxycodone/APAP (Percocet) at all. A person should not, by rights, withdrawal when changing from one generic to another. I know there is differences in generics but they should not cause WD and this did for many! Unbelievable! Anyway, I know the active ingredient can be 20% and maybe up to 25% less or more in the generics vs name brand. Honestly, how many companies do you think would actually give us MORE of the active ingredient, right?

Hey, I did read about the anti abuse drug (naloxone or naltrexone) being in the straight oxycodone by Actavis but the FDA only approved them to sell a small quantity because it has not been approved yet. Now, what is a small quantity? By now, those oxy's should no longer be on the shelves! Oh, the reason Actavis was allowed to sell this "small quantity" is because they had already produced them. Gee, you don't want to waste any money, right? None of these people care one bit about what we are going through! NONE OF THEM!

Just Mad.....when I was on generic Percocet a year ago my pharmacy always carried the Endocet, which didn't work great for me but it has for a lot of people. Anyway, my bottle claimed Endo Pharmaceuticals as the maker....I do believe Endo and Qualitest are owned by the same company. I'm not sure about this but I remember reading something to that effect on this forum. Just ask your pharmacist.

Someone I know is on Hydrocodonr/APAP ( Norco ), gets it at Walgreens and it still comes with the Watson name and imprint! So, you awe exactly right, Actavis CAN use the Watson formula if they wanted! This same crap happened a year and a half ago with Actavis generic Norco. I know because I got sick but NOTHING compared to the Percocet generic! I have been off oxycodone and put back on hydrocodone last week, which doesn't work well for me but I will never chance going through this, but I am still having severe GI issues! How long will it take to clear up? Idk but I never want to go through this again!
I have complained to Actavis. They called me back and the woman I talked to said, "well, I don't have a medical degree so I don't know why everyone would have the same side effects!" Why are the people who handle their drug complaints trained in medical issues? She was also going to have someone from another department call me to discuss getting my $218 refunded......well, that hasn't happened yet! Who knows if it will?!?! I have also complained to the FDA, over a week ago, and they were sending me the MedWatch form to fill out specifically for this purpose. Well, that hasn't come yet either! I trust them as much as I trust Actavis......which is basically NOT AT ALL! They have been getting complaints since January and not a thing has been done about the problems! One person was actually told to go ahead and contact a lawyer...due to the laws they cannot be sued for any of this BS! What about wrongful death? Are they covered for that, too? This just means they can do any damn thing the want with no consequences! Makes me sick!

Chad, I am so thankful that you posted what you did! I might be sick every day for a month but maybe they will give me my $218 back for the worthless, Actavis Percocet I just bought! I took the number down for them and the FDA earlier today and am calling tomorrow. Actavis just went through all this crap with their hydrocodone! I don't think they are a company that should stay in business! It's getting ridiculous already! I do believe my pharmacy will order another brand as right now they have endocet and it doesn't work for me.....that is why I went to Walgreens. I prefer endocet, at least I didn't get so sick from them! They just weren't very good at relieving the pain.

Anyway, thank you for your post!

Request your pharmacy to order either qualitest or mallinkrodt brand. Both of these have worked for me when Endo Percocet did not work. Also, I just went back on Percocet after being off almost a year and was given the Actavis brand! I am extremely ill, headaches, heartburn and to top off, no pain control! I am extremely angry as almost 2 years ago I was given hydrocodone made by actavis and again, I was made extremely ill with no pain relief! IMHO, Actavis has to go! They do not belong dealing with medications that don't work! Back when, there was a lot of complaints against them and the hydrocodone they were making.....now, the same thing with the Percocet. Unfortunately, I just got my meds last week so I am stuck on them for a whole month! Until all the narcotic crackdowns, this would not have been a problem as the doctor would gladly issue you a new prescription.....not many will do that anymore!

Thanks for the phone # for Activis, I've had 2 knee replacements and understand this new formula does not work at all. I have to get another , still on the same knee.
The old one has to be taken out. I'm scared to death to even think what pain medecine'
I will get, or even be able to fill. I'm taking 10mg 4 x a day just to survive. It's so hard to find, and Walgreens can deceide if they even want to fill your rx or not. Wish so bad I had never had this done in the first place.

The Actavis a333 does not work!!!! I have been taking watson for 3 years and never had a single issue.

Then 2 months ago...I was given Actavis a349. It worked just like watson. The next month...I was given Actavis a333...it didn't work at all.

Its not the brand...its the FORMULATION. I called Actavis and filed a complaint. They agreed but said they couldn't swap them....I hope they start supplying the a349 formula..a lot of people have been affected.

By complaining to Actavis about getting their bad a333 pills and the side effects...they will at least refund you the cost of the pills. And they might actually do something about it.

We have to suffer for the rest of the month so its better than nothing.

When you do call and get the VM...leave a message. They will call you back in a couple of days.

I got it....from Walgreen s...they told me they didn't have endocet but when my usual pharmacist called another store who he knew had them, they told him they did. Then when I went to fill my script, the pharmacist told me they didn't have endocet. ....I told them my pharmacist just called n u told him u had it....she told me she was going to go check then came back n said she had it......I dont know whats going on with them telling people they dont have it when they do? Is it suppose to sit on their shelf n expire? All I do know us u cant trust any of these pharmacies any more when it comes to pain meds!

I have this one pharmacist at a Walgreens that had endocet the first month I got it...this month, I called the same store n my pharmacist was off. ..I asked them if they had endocet n the pharmacist working told me no. I called around everywhere n nobody had it. The next day I called back the Walgreen s where my pharmacist is at n he was working. ....he told me he did have endocet (remember the pharmacist the day before said she didn't. ..liar) but he didnt have enough to fill my script. He said the other Walgreen s in town had some. I told him I called that store yesterday n they told me they didn't have endocet. ..he put me on hold n called. Came back on the phone n told me they have em n enough to fill my script. I called 40 different places the day before looking for endocet, my pharmacist was the first, the store he called for me was the third number I called. Had they told me the truth that they had them...even when I told them im in their system n they can look me up to see I have Percocet filled every month, they wouldve saved me thirty something other calls n 2 hours of my time...bunch of bs. Anyway, when i went to this Walgreen s n told them I needed my Percocet s to be filled with endocet only, the pharmacist still told me she didnt have any n she would have to order them?!?! I told her my pharmacist just called n was told u had them n sent me here. She told me she was going to check n came back to the window n said she did have them. I couldve strangled her at thst point. If not for my pharmacist being people friendly n willing to call around for me, I wouldn't have my endocet this month. So make sure when u go to a pharmacy n ask for endocet, before they tell u no, ask them to check. I have only been able to get them at Walgreen s.....just make sure they look first before u walk away!

Kay: Look for local mom & pop pharmacies in your area, most of the big box pharmacies don't carry it (Endocet) because their distributors don't offer it. I spoke with someone at a CVS pharmacy and they informed me of a local mom & pop pharmacy who has a distributor that carries it, I have to have it ordered by them each month but they get it in their delivery the next day. I made a ton of phone calls but eventually found them, they are out there. Good luck!

i think it's important to be a smart patient, to take in upon yourself to know that opiates cause constipation. end of story. maybe you, or any of us, were NOT constipated on watson because we were on it for so long, our bodies were simply used to it. (but i bet we were at least a little bit constipated in the very beginning).

in the 3 weeks i was without watson percs (in the frantic search for a replacement), i had to resort to my straight oxys (15mg), and norco (two 10/325s) and i got constipated, and i was surprised for a minute... because it was just a reminder that i need to double up my probiotic intake, take 2 magnesium pills instead of one a day, and also eat some prunes every single day. thats all. no big fear or any kind of huge surprise... just some forgetfulness on my part, so i got a oh-so lovely and painful reminder that that my regular med are gone now, but it was remedied in a day.

so yeah, at first, there WILL be constipation, so be prepared for it. get some dried plums (prunes) or raisins. take extra magnesium pills (or liquid, which is great for our hearts and adrenals anyway, and up your probiotics for the first few weeks until your body gets used to endocet.

*i would NEVER stop taking ANY of these 'poop helpers' as long as i'm on opiates (which might be forever). you dont need to resort to another DRUG to make you poop. if you just prepare your gut, stay on top of your daily 'poop helper routine', and STAY HYDRATED so that you always pee clear.*

and if you know something makes you poop, like orange juice or green tea for example... then just add that to your daily routine. everyone is different, (and i'm very against taking MORE meds to counteract side effects of other other meds), so i think we just need to prepare in a healthy way and learn some simple self abdominal massage (you can find on youtube). ? i was a massage therapist before EDS took me out of the game, so i learned abdominal massage as well as how to open your ileocecal valve (the sphincter that attaches your small GI tract to your large GI tract located on your lower right side of your gut. it often gets spasmed, thus creating a backed-up colon and severe constipation.) just get informed and stay on top of things. :o)

I was told by a drug store that ENDOCET is the answer as they have many mad, hurting people who, like I, used to use Watson 10/325 for years helping their pain with NO side effects. I will be trying it SOON, & I am so happy, as I have called everywhere, & my pharmacy too. PEOPLE, Activis has a phone number & you MUST call & tell them if is not helping your pain, & tell them all the side effects!!!!! I ended up in ER with SEVERE Constipation & A SEVERE Stomach Bacterial Infietion & they wanted to hospitalize me or send me home with Cipro & Flaygo (heavy doses of antibiotics). I had such a sharp pain in my stomach I couldn't MOVE! I NEVER even got constipated with the Watson Oxcycodone in 10 years & it helped my pain so well. It is also important to get the LOT # when you get the prescription of a pain med. Activas said after so called many of my complaints that they could not even investigate it, because I never gave them a LOT #! Now, what pharmacy EVER gives you a LOT #?! NON, unless you ask, but obviously, we all need to ask incase we have problems, but I am under the impression, that it is ALL of their damn LOT #'s, not just something wrong with one~Activas should be out of business hurting SO MANY PEOPLE!

hi denise,

yep, endocet is awesome. works just like the watson brand, perhaps a teeny bit different, as each company has its own formula.
but as far the pain relief, its doing the job and i'm taking it exactly as i did the watson brand.
now my pain lady just writes my script for Endocet and i get it from safeway (the only place they have it in my town).

good luck to everyone. i'm happy i've figured this out, for me anyway... and help someone along the way.
:)

I'm going crazy myself trying to figure this out. Watson was great for the pain. I have to have another knee replacement and am really worried. I've used Walgreens since 2012 with no problem. My RX reads exactly the same. Now the new medication does nothing for the pain, and makes me feel like I'm going to fall asleep. CVS and endocet is just as bad. Can anyone give a suggestion on where to get oxycodone made by Watson. What is everyone doing?
