Actavis Hydrocodone/acetaminophen 5-325 2172
UpdatedI've just had my very first surgery at age 22 on my right ear (Tymnoplasty). I was actually fine with mild pain leaving the hospital and was given this prescription at Walgreens to take every four hours before any pain started when leaving the hospital. I've never had a problem with generic medication, but this is possibly the worse pain I've experienced! I called my doctor to let him know and he explained to take another even though I had just taken this one at 7. It is now 9, I am on my second pill and still feel no relief. I then had to call my doctor again in which he said it could be the brand of the medicine. He actually prescribed me Norco but Walgreens gave me this because of my insurance. I know I should experience little to no pain, but pain that makes you cry shouldn't be acceptable. It hasn't been 24 hours after my surgery and I don't have anything wrong with the ear (according to the release papers instructions). So most likely it has to be the brand of the pill because again I was absolutely fine at first. The fact that this pill is fairly new and there are a lot of complaints is really unacceptable. I surely hope that it is discontinued. I have to find a way to just get the real brand which is 10 times the price since I'll be out of work the next few days and college. Even though I'm very tired, I see that I will be unable to sleep because of this and just for the better by morning.

I too have been on the Watson 5-325 with red speckles for years. But apparently now Actavis merged with Watson or some rubbish like that. All I know is it wasn't effective for me either and caused me to get headaches! My lower back has been feeling more horrible too. >:(
Guess they rather poison their customers and make them more sick so we will have to get on more meds. Seems legit to me! I called my Walgreens and spoke to the very helpful pharmacy manager and she suggested Vicodin Brand name 5-300mg. It is by ABBVIE. My insurance covered it as well. A lot of insurance companies do cover this brand name Vicodin so maybe you all should see if your insurance will. I also submitted a report to MedWatch, the FDA Safety Information and Adverse Event Reporting Program. I would advise everyone to do the same!
Thanks for the advice !! I actually got my doctor to give me another prescription which was the Watson 3203 at an higher dosage of 7.5-325 (Works sooo much better). I will definitely report it and help spread the word about this.
Actavis was purchased by Teva. Teva changed the fillers it uses in the pain medications. The new fillers prevent the medication from absorbing into your system.
I have also had my prescription through Walgreens which was changed to this brand. It is does not compare to the Watson brand. My pain level has increased significantly with the Activis! Will have to contact my doctor and wish me luck in getting it changed!
I have been on opiate pain meds for six years and the Watson 5/325 were much more effective than the Actavis 5/325. Actavis hydrocodone and oxycodone are horrible. I would go with mallinckrodt, roxane, or amneal before I got those. Contact the fda and you can file a complaint with the company. I had them mail me the complaint form and I hope in doing so somebody checks the quality control and manufacturing of Actavis. There is obviously something wrong if all of us regular pain medication consumers say this brand Actavis is almost non effective for those of us who need these medications to help our quality of life.
Ft hear 2172 are the very worst pain medicine I've ever taken ... Better off with taking Advil for it is way stronger then those fake tabs !!
Re: Stuart (# 6)
It would seem that a lot of us have encountered the same problem. My doctor prescribed hydrocodone 5/325. I got it filled at Walgreen's. She has prescribed this drug to me before with excellent results. Now, all of a sudden, they have practically no effect whatsoever other than to make you feel a little "corky" but as far as pain relief...NOTHING. I flushed mine.
