I got this in Mexico last week for a bladder infection. Is this just for the pain of a bladder infection? Or does it help cure one too?

Nalidixic Acid IS an antibiotic! It will and does cure a UTI and the Fenazopiridina will relieve the urinary pain.

Hello. I've been taking this medication called acido nalidixico fenazopiridina for a UTI & the burning symptoms that come with it! My questions are, regarding urine; 1) is it suppose to be a very bright yellow or light orange color? 2) My second question is, does this med contain Sulfa? I was told I am allergic to Sulfa drugs.

I would not ever take this acid medication. It's like chemotherapy. I'm saying this because it burns my tongue and down my throat and as the doctor told me in Mexico that it's very bad for the kidneys. I told the stupid female doctor that I didn't want to take anything that could potentially hurt any of my organs and the stupid doctor still gave me them. I didn't realize it until I drove home and already took all 3 doses per day as prescribed.

I looked it up at home and it's Soo bad for you, you might as well be on chemotherapy. What a dumb doctor. I will never go to her again. Do not ever take acido nalidixico fenazopiridina. Who would take anything that harms the kidneys or any organ? As soon as it dawned on me after taking the 3 pill and it burned my tongue, I then realized what it must be doing to my insides. Buyer beware!!

I live in Mexico and have been taking Acido Nalidixico Fenazopiridina for several days now for a urinary tract infection. (self diagnosed as I know the symptoms since I have had many) However, although it has worked for me in the past, it does not seem to be working this time. Does this have an antibiotic in it that will kill the infection or should I take something else? I want to get rid of this asap as I am very uncomfortable.

The active ingredients are 500mgs of Nalidixic Acid and 50mgs of Phenazopyridine, it is commonly used to treat urinary tract infections, because some bacteria that cause them are sensitive to the acid and will be killed by it.

That said, however, it is not an antibiotic, so it may help clear it up, but there is also a chance that it won't.

The main side effect warned about when taking this is photo-sensitivity.
