Hi, My mother was suffering from Abdomen TB. She got operated 5 months back. After operation, she was given AKT4 tablet for 4 months and then shifted on AKT3 & Neurobion tablets. But now she is facing problem of continuous acidity and vomitting feel. What could be the reason that after reducing one tablet also acidity increasing?
Is there any need of using anti acidity tablet along with AKT3? Please advice.

@VVK,

Sorry to hear about your mother's condition with acidity. Based on my research the AKT-3 kit contains a combination of Ethambutol + Isoniazide + Rifampicin... So I went ahead and looked up the side effect profile for each of those medications individually and while I haven't come across any mention of increased acidity, all three medications do list nausea and vomiting as general side effects on the website for The US National Library of Medicine.

In the event that this occurs, they actually recommend contacting your doctor about it to determine the cause and if it's safe to continue treatment or try something else.

Has your mom made any sudden changes to her typical diet while taking these medications? Just wanted to ask because I know certain foods can also bring about the onset of acidity problems. However there are highly alkaline foods as well (namely dark leafy greens or even baking soda) that could help counteract the symptoms of acid reflux.

I hope this helps!
