Acid Reflux Is Not What You Think It Is

There is no 'gut flora' in the stomach. The stomach is incredibly acidic and is designed to kill bacteria in the stomach. While you are correct that acid reflux is a sign of something more serious, and taking acid reflux medication is not a good solution to this problem.

And reducing stomach acid can actually allow bacteria to grow in the stomach when it could not before the acid reduction. Taking medications is a 'band aid' that does not solve the problem, but actually makes it worse.
