I have a son that took accutane 60 mg a day for six months in a row three years ago. Now after many trips to doctors over strange medical problems, it seems accuatne is the culprit medication that has caused servere joint and muscle pain, severe dry lips, redness in face, eye infections of own immune system attacking itself, systems of osteoarthritis in both shoulders, both wrist and right hand, blood in stool, possible hair loss, abnormal liver function test results in AST and ALT. My son went from being a high school football and track athlete while taking this medication three years ago to someone that is in constant pain just washing a car. After I have researched this drug extensively, I can't believe that the FDA allows this drug originally made for cancer patients to be marketed for teenagers with acne. All one has to do is look online what vitamin A overdose does to someone and then you have the results of what this medication has done to my son. This drug needs to be taken off them market ASAP and the drug companies that make it need to compensate all teenagers that they have possible ruined their future. Shame on them! What is going on here?

Read the link all of these depressions side effects are in your heads. Research before you guys come on here complaining about your genetic problems. Like I've been saying you people are the only ones who have problems and that's why your on here. The common denominator is accutane that you took at one point in your life stop blaming this drug for your health problems.

What is going on here is that congress is either ignorant or have decided it's more important for people to have purpose in life by having an industry that shouldn't exist. The only way to "support" this industry is through pharmaceuticals. Immunizations are causing cancers in children by the way. You can't sue for an immunization doing anything to your child. For example immunizations causing autism. For everybody who doesn't have a problem or got lucky enough not to get a disease, they don't understand the suffering that all of us go through. Bart Stupak's (a congressman) child killed himself a while back after taking accutane; however, the drug is still on the market. I'm with you on paying everybody back, but in all honesty I would love for the makers and for congress to take two rounds of this drug for 6 months at 60 milligrams. This would actually be all the compensation I would need. It gives you a lot of perspective when you are in pain all the time and essentially dying from this drug. The money doesn't give us back our lives, friends, or family. I never knew how evil the doctors were until I got sick and did the research. I trusted them, but I know it's all a joke now.

"What kind of person would give their child a chemo drug unless they had cancer"

Not interested in all the bickering, but I wouldn't even give a DOG chemo drugs. Chemotherapy drugs kill more people than they can actually "save." Also, notice accutane is a chemotherapy drug they are using to fight acne. Acne is bacteria. Hmmm ever wonder if cancer is bacteria or even just a condition of acidosis. Dr. Budwig German nobile prize winner used sulfur against cancer aka flaxeed oil with cottage cheese(sulphorated proteins.) So you get calcium deposits when you get cancer which is the body pulling calcium out of the bones to alkalize a condition of acidosis. Why is acidosis occuring? Acidosis can cause bacteria to invade organs. Why are women who are taking hormones getting breast cancer? Literally every woman is getting breast cancer from hormones which is causing acidosis. Why doesn't pharma attack the acidic condition??!! Anyways, I won't explain any further, but chemotherapy drugs are worthless. Big pharma knows it and they know all they have are lies. Most chemotherapy patients won't live past 5 years. If they do live past 5 years it's most likely their cancer wasn't real invasive. They may have said it was, but that's just part of the lie. The same method for cancer is the same method they use for acne. Kill the immune system(all the bacteria in the body) and whatever grows back is you. So basically the body is overloaded with pathogenic bacteria. Success now we've succesfully induced cancer in a patient with mild acne. We're lucky though cause the cancerous cell won't develop for a few years and nobody will link it to accutane or chemotherapy. Ahh and thank you to all the congressmen for allowing us to call every disease incurable and attack those who actually "cure" themselves using practical knowledge. We don't want anyone to know the truth so we'll just say we magically have drugs that work, but we don't know why they work. Shame shame.

I would recommend you not take what a person or persons are feeling lightly. you never know what triggers or pain level people have. I served in the infantry for 23 years and took this drug on 3 different occasions. I had no clue it caused issues, I just assumed it was my job, areas I was deployed to , taking drugs like the shots against anthrax, the desert Storm pills etc. It was blind trust on my part in the doctors I saw. So I am paying for my ignorance with almost every symptom on the list. I except the responsibility for my actions. I appreciate this forum because before I found it I was blind to what it did to me With that said, I have seen kids with pimples who are social outcasts because of it and some with it that seem to have no social issues even with the acne. The point I am making is anyone of those people could go crazy at any minute you just do not know their tolerance level.
I would recommend you treat everyone like you would like to be treated and just maybe you will not upset them and make them do something rash or go in the other direction. I guess that means calling someone a moron because they stated what they know is quite judgmental and you should try to avoid that for your own sake as well as theirs.

What a moron... I did not know until after my son got ill. What kind of person would give their child a chemo drug unless they had cancer. We were never told of long term side effects. And my sis didnt lose her teeth years ago, it was only about 3 yrs ago.
Anyway you are probably just some lowlife doing a job , trying to Big up this crappy drug. Dont twist my words.

There was recently a documentary in the UK called people Dying for Clear Skin !
Your day may come so if you truly have taken this drug only time will tell... Not everyone gets ill whilst taking the drug ,which was what happened to my son .Therefor people dont realise it was the drug. I know the truth of what this Roaccutane / Isotretinoin is capable of ...

Also I just read the post that said you have only just finished or are going through your forth month.. lol buddy I pray to god you don’t experience any long term effects.. One that might be believable for you is the life long severe dry skin that gets worse and worse.. Not just an effect when you’re on the drug!!! I honest to go hope this doesn’t become an issue for you.. I remember my skin becoming a very big issue a few months after finishing my dose. My hair falling out of my head in my hands and my skin flaking and peeling for years… Thank god I have learned to control this issue and yes have my hair back and everything is under control.. But that’s only 9 years later.. You may or may not notice the little changes that come to your body from accutane .. Hopefully nothing to noticeable takes place.. Like I said if you look at me now you would never be able to tell I experienced anything but even to this day I still deal with issues due to taking this drug that is proven to cause many so called possible side effects.. But I think a hefty portion of them is most likely guaranteed to some degree. Just like anyone can say they have a issue due to taking accutane any one can say you would have had that regardless and it has nothing to do with taking accutane… so its pretty much a loosing battle.. The only way a persons condition or side effects are taken seriously and actually examined and proved is if it is killing them or has killed them..In those cases the company and or doctors have been sued and the victim or family has been compensated to some degree.. In the large realm of things those cases are rare compared to the number of many other people suffering from all the other less deadly side effects, but they are still out there.. Then again prescription narcotics are the main drugs killing people in America today but doctors still prescribe them like candy.. (Those are people that abuse the drugs though) at least they have a choice!!! Like I said this isn’t a form on advil so you should do some research of the proven life altering affects that come from this drug before you comment.. Also if you don’t have any issues why comment or don’t in the future.. Just live your life..Be happy!!

But accutane does greatly effect a huge amount of people that take it.. This isn't Advil were talking about.. So try to have some respect when you talk to people.. God forbid something happens to you one day.. I my self have taken this drug and I have no comPlaints as far as acne goes ... My face is mint.. I am not blaming my life on accutane .. I am quite happy!! I am Handsome, never had a problem with ladies even when I had acne, I own a successful business.. I am actually doing a lot better then when I was thAt 16 old kid that took accutane.. Very happy with life probably more so then you.. That doesn't mean accutane doesn't have very dangerous side effects and that I didn't experience any of them.. So don't judge these people that have.. You don't know!! So try to practice not being ignorant and rude and keeping your uneducated opinions to your self.. Like they say when your a child " If you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all" cheers!!

So let me get this straight... You knew your sister had issues with this but you put your kid on the same medicine, wow your a great parent. She took it 20 years ago and still told you a few years later that is absolutely Moronic on your part if you truly think this is so bad. Have you ever thought about the fact that maybe the people that post on here are the only ones who have issues what about the thousands of others that have no side effects. Quit being ignorant, we all know your knowledge is equivalent to a middle school education. Sorry your family has health issues, people do have issues health wise even though they never took accutane. Get real you people are obviously not the healthiest people to begin with an just are looking for something to blame. So obvious so think before you speak next time, sounds like you "poisoned" your child.

Derrick. Ignorance is Bliss isn't it? I know of at least five people that have used this drug and all have side effects in some way. Migraine and head pain is one of the most common along with stomach issues. My sister also lost all her teeth as she took this poision 20+ years ago and had no internet so long ago to look up. She also suffered from joint, neck & back pains. But didn't tell anyone she had taken this til years later. My son has suffered since wk 6-8 of a 12 wk course. Which i stopped him from finishing..2 years on and he has plenty of health issues. Which are on my previous posts. I know a lady that has calcification in her heels and shoulders- something else which this drug causes. ..My sons head pains were so bad they did a Lumbar Puncture to check his intercraniel pressure , which was at the top end of the scale and probably just enough relief to lower his pain. Another known effect of this drug but not all side effects are listed on the leaflet in the box.On the sheet that comes in the box it says upto 30% of people get joint pain. Thats a heck of a lot of people, and thats if that statement is reliable. They tell you to go to your Doc if you have side effects but when you do they dont want to know... Its just a money making racket.. Get real please.My son was a happy, healthy 16 year old until he took this chemo drug.. And when i tried to find more info i typed effects of Isotretinoin which just tells you the same as the leaflet.. Had i typed Long term side effects i would have seen a whole different picture. Unfortunately i wasnt specific enough with my search wording !

Derrick... Ignorance is BLISS..... My son started getting ill after 6-8 wks into taking this drug. He stopped at 8 weeks of the 12 week course. Now 2 years later he has suffered immense pains in Head, chest, joints, bones. Migraines and the list is endless. Bury your head in the sand if you must. My son is nearly 19 and has had no life for the past 2 yrs. He did voluntary work outdoors at weekends. He was training to be a power lifter. Did not take any form of steroid or such.. Explain away cos no one else can explain why he is sat in his room every day in pain, depressed !

Let not forget that steroid can do that too let's not get the two mixed together. And there is plenty of testimonials pro accutane contrary to your beliefs. And last time I checked I didn't know debating over the Internet shows signs of aggression.

Did you not read my post or something? I have no side effects and I'm pretty sure one of the side effects if I were to have them is not brain deterioration, especially since these are so called "long term side effects." It goes back to people like you being ignorant and in denial at the fact that your stomach issues etc... Is a bodily function that is or was going to occur whether you like it or not. You do know that people have these issues that have never taken accutane right? It all goes back to people are looking for something to blame and of course if you develop arthritis from the ten years you've been sitting in front of a computer typing, your going to be like oh wait I took accutane ten years ago... Yeah wait a minute that's why I have this condition. And thank you for your sympathy concerning my overall state of mind but I think I can hold my own. Have a 3.75 in chemical engineering in college and already have a internship with shell that I work when I'm not in school.

I was a bodybuilder before accutane. I was in the best shape of my life. I had a huge amount of confidence before the drug. I took the drug, because I was pressured by the doctor that I needed it to avoid scars. I had well over 30 friends. I was very witty and intelligent. I had absolutely no problems before this drug. If the side effects don't show up at first they will show up years later. You just don't know how the drug is changing your body. You won't know until it's too late. If you read into the science which obviously you haven't you would know. You don't even know the science behind depression and why this drug causes depression. All the big pharma studies are flawed studies that do not even go past 5 years. This drug is a chemotherapy drug. Read up on chemotherapy drugs. Absolutely, ridiculous of you to make a post like this without any facts or knowledge of the drug. Most people don't link there problems to the drug, because they don't understand the specifics of the science. It took me a while to learn exactly what these companies did. All I can say is welcome to hell in a few years. Don't encourage people to take a drug that will kill them. Acne doesn't kill people and accutane does plain and simple. BTW there is not a study showing millions of people without side effects. Most of the studies are actually done over seas and are heavily falsified. Anyways, attacking everybody saying they have made up side effects is very immature especially when you aren't even done taking the drug. You seem somewhat angry which is a side effect of the drug. Anger and depression go hand and hand. BTW that wonderful liver tests doesn't do much for you. I won't explain why, because you seem to know much more about this drug than everybody on here who has been severly impacted by it. Well have another wonderful day without your acne!

@derrick sad to say that these stories of depression and hallucinations and stomach problems are true. u may not experience this yet but most people suffer greatly from pain and had no clue all their lives that it was due to isotretinoin. Both my brothers have suffered greatly from this drug and I am so sure that accutane was the culprit. Why take the risk loosing so many things good things in life over a pill that takes away pimples? Do you really think that pill is a miracle drug? Why even sign all the documents for taking a medicine? because it is a chemo drug that doctors dont want you to come back to sue them. it is because it is a highly dangerous drug. Is getting rid of your pimples even worth all the risks in destroying your life forever? you people are so young. it is very normal for teens to have pimples. lets face the facts... if you take isotretinoin, you risk your health forever. there is a fine line between being ignorant of the side effects and refusing to believe that it will destroy your life. Maybe by taking all these, it has already destroyed your brain a little bit that is why you are being stubborn and refuse to believe that it caused negative and permanent side effects. May God give you wisdom and strength in fighting the harmfull effects that this drug has done to your body.

This is specifically directed at you. Your blaming all this on accutane when your clearly in denial that your son has a severe abnormal health issue. There is a reason why youve been to seven different doctors with no success. You can't blame your child's health issues on this drug he clearly was intended to have these issues regardless of whether or not he ever do this medicine. You should have done your research before you put him on the medicine if you were so concerned you sign a waiver form letting you know what your getting into. There is so much information on the Internet made available to you and as a parent you should always reSearch before you give your kid medicine. I'm sorry but you can't blame something on a drug for your own mistake if this "drug" even actually caused your sons 100 issues, which I highly doubt.

Sorry my post wasn't sent to the right person. But I am 20 years old on my 4th month of accutane I have experienced no side effects besides increased confidence do to my new smooth clear skin. I'm doing great in college now, my social life has increased a ton with my now perfect skin. I was an all state football and soccer player and like I said in the above post I play basketball and intramurals all the time. People who have issues with this drug blame it on accutane as an out for all of their previous health problems. And I know someone is going to say well 10 years down the road this health issue occurred... Well my theory on that is you were going to have that health issue regardless and you blame it on accutane because that's all you have that you can blame it on. The only reason your on this website is because you have a health issue even though studies show millions of people that have had no long term side effects. All you people out here blaming your health and depression problems on accutane is an absolute joke. Not to mention my 18 year old brother is done with accutane for 5 years now and he is 6'3 200lbs and a great athlete Benches 325lbs no problem and plays sports in high school just now he has clear skin. Please don't let all of these people blaming health problems on accutane effect your decision. My doctor calls this drug the "miracle drug". Also let me mention this... I am on my fourth month and I honestly drink pretty heavily at the bar and Everytime I go in for a checkup and blood test the doctor says everything looks great... So great that I don't even have to get a blood test monthly anymore only every other month. These people are such a small sample size out of the millions of people that take this and of course those postings on this site are going to be all the people with problems. Great drug from a very honest and real person on claravis 30mg twice a day and my brother took 80mg daily.
