I took accutane almost 14 years ago as a teenager. I am now a 32 year old woman who has just been diagnosed with infertility that they believe is linked to autoimmune issues. I truly believe that accutane is the cause of this; from the research that I have done it seems that accutane has been linked to other thyroid-related diseases, but that they have not yet been able to prove a link between accutane and infertility. There are, however, actually more people like me out there than I originally thought. Being diagnosed with ovarian dysfunction has been a horrific, horrific blow. And while there was plenty of information about accutane and birth defects, no one ever mentioned a possibility of future infertility. I was a teenager! This is a tragedy and I believe something should be done about it. If you too have been affected diagnosed with infertility and have taken accutane, please email me. There are plenty of suits against accutance. If there are enough of us, we can come together to do the medical research and get the help we now need.

Unfortunately, there are both men and women who are suffering from infertility issues due to prior Accutane use. Also, there are many men and women suffering from many other symptoms due to this devastating drug. It may be a blessing to be infertile after taking this drug because there have been children from both men and women who had previously taken Accutane that were born with the devastating side effects of Accutane. It did not matter whether the children were conceived one year after their parent took Accutane or twenty years after. The sad thing is we cannot prove the negative effects of this drug from studies because the pharmaceutical companies fund a majority of all clinical trials. Therefore, only positive findings of clinical trials are published and the negative findings are not. The pharmaceutical companies have been hiding these negative clinical trial results for a long time and it is just devastating that these drugs with so many dangerous and life-threatening side effects are given to people.

This is a devasting blow. I didn't expect your reply to be so extreme. So even if I still tried and was successful the odds are he/she would have birth defects. I'm just really angry now. Is there any way to sue for this? Or some type of compensation.

I am sorry Curtis. If you did happen to get your girlfriend pregnant in the future, you may have a perfectly normal healthy baby but there is no knowing for sure. This drug has permanent effects on the body and it is a tragedy that anyone has been prescribed this drug. A lawyer would be best to contact to see if it is even possible to sue Roche for your side effects. I believe the only conditions that you can file an Accutane legal case for is if you have been diagnosed with Crohn's Disease, Inflammatory Bowel Diseases and Ulcerative Colitis.

Thankyou angel. I'll do more research. From what I'm seeing it might be best to be infertile after taking this drug do to the defect that are most likely to happen if I were to have kids. I can't believe this. Thankyou for your reply

I am 42 years old and not been successful at getting pregnant. My brother also took it back in high school and he cannot get his wife pregnant. I have been off birth control for 15 yrs, tried ovulation tests and nothing! I had my hormone levels checked and thyroid checked. Both normal.

Many gals get pregnant while used accutane.Pregnancy is usually connected with mental health.so first come out from that dilemma.eat good diet add excercise daily.And take clomid and prime rose it will give you positive sign

I have been trying to get pregnant for 4 and a half years. Have had all tests possible done and my primary care doctor and ob say everything looks good. I have tried iui with 2 different specialists. My primary care and one of the specialists are shocked at my AMH levels and say that the test must be wrong. I am 38 and took two rounds of Accutane. One when I was 22/23 and the other when I was 27. I cannot stop thinking that because of Accutane my dream of being a mom will never come true. I am completely devastated.

She gave me Clomid and Metformin which didn't work. I am 38 and took two rounds of Accutane. One when I was 22/23 and the other when I was 27. I cannot stop thinking that because of Accutane my dream of being a mom will never come true. I am completely devastated.

I took Accutane in 1991 I can't get pregnant. Im,42 now haven't been on birth control for 15 years

It's the same for me. I took it as a teen. I'm 40 now. I've not been able to get my wife pregnant and the doctors can't explain why. Of course accutane may not be the cause. But I can say for certain that it has made my skin thinner permanently. So the effects were not limited to the acne. I would not take it again if I had know the risks.

Have you given a semen sample? And if so, what were the results. I have no sperm whatsoever. I had a testicular biopsy done, and the doc said I flat out don't have the glands that make them. All my testosterone and stuff is fine though.

Hi, I took roaccutaine from 1999 through to 2005 on and off prescibed by a dermatologist. I have struggled with infertility since soon after and was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve and had failed attempts at IVF. I have always suspected that roaccutaine has had a major impact as no one in my family has had any issues. I have since under gone premature menopause at 41. I believe that this medication should be banned and some one needs to be held accountable. I would never have taken it had I known the implications and all the hardships I have undergone.

Yes. My son had the same problem as a result of taking Accutane I believe.
They went through a sperm donor in Spain and now have an almost 1 year old.
But it was so shocking and all the tests broke my heart.

If the maker can't be sued. Would it be possible to sue the dermatologist who prescribed the accutane?

I took roaccutane in 1997 for a brief period. I have been trying for a baby for 3 years, with no luck. My partners tests are good. They have told me it is unexplained infertility as no evidence in my tests of any problems e.g. ovulation, Fallopian tubes all ok. I've barely used contraception over my 24 years of menstruation. The only medical treatment I've ever had was this medication for acne. I want to uncover if there is a definite link between accutane and infertility.
