Accutane And Infertility (Page 28)

I took accutane almost 14 years ago as a teenager. I am now a 32 year old woman who has just been diagnosed with infertility that they believe is linked to autoimmune issues. I truly believe that accutane is the cause of this; from the research that I have done it seems that accutane has been linked to other thyroid-related diseases, but that they have not yet been able to prove a link between accutane and infertility. There are, however, actually more people like me out there than I originally thought. Being diagnosed with ovarian dysfunction has been a horrific, horrific blow. And while there was plenty of information about accutane and birth defects, no one ever mentioned a possibility of future infertility. I was a teenager! This is a tragedy and I believe something should be done about it. If you too have been affected diagnosed with infertility and have taken accutane, please email me. There are plenty of suits against accutance. If there are enough of us, we can come together to do the medical research and get the help we now need.
I took accutane twice - once at age 16 and again at age 18. I too, experienced unexplained infertility. I have a high ANA. I am the only one infertile in my family. I did 6 rounds of IVF and never had a high egg outcome.
I am 32 years old. I took Accutane 2 different times when I was 22. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 2 years and can't get pregnant. It just doesn't seem to add up because my obgyn says everything looks perfect. And I always know when I am ovulating and that is the exact time we try to conceive every month. I don't want to take fertility drugs because they have so many bad side effects. But I am not getting any younger. I have completely given up hope. All I know to do now is pray that a miracle will happen.
I took Accutane when I was 16 and 17. When my husband and I decided to start having children at the age of 29, unfortunately we were told we had an "unexplained" fertility issue. My eggs were fine, my husband's sperm was awesome, but no babies. 3 Artificial insemination attempts, and many miscarriages later, we were crushed. Fortunately, the Lord led us to adopt so we have a beautiful little girl. It has been a rough life. If this was Accutane, I wish I would have known so many years ago. This has been emotionally and physically one of the most difficult things we have ever had to deal with. No money a drug company makes should ever be worth risking a families future. Shame on them if they justified the ends by the means.
I also have thin uterine lining. Glad to know I'm not the only one, but sorry your daughter is dealing with it as well. I also had a miscarriage and am now taking baby aspirin everyday. It seems to be helping.
My daughter took accutane as a teen and is now 30 years old, married, and has been been diagnosed with a very thin uterine lining has had 1 miscarige, and 1 unsuccessful ivf to date.
I have called a few law firms, but so far they are only taking claims for IBS, etc., not infertility as a result of Accutane. Please, if anyone knows of a law firm taking infertility cases, please let this group know.
I took accutane for 5 months 3 years ago. I have since been diagnosed with infertility. I have been through 3 IVF's, two being with donated eggs. My uterine lining is on the thin side...7.0 to 8. After my first IVF with my own eggs the doctor said the quality of my eggs was extremely abnormal for a 24 year old.
Hi! I am a healthy 28 year old who has been trying to get pregnant for two years. I constantly have such bad joint pain that they have tested me numerous time for Lupus. I've also been diagnosed with unexplained infertility. I took Accutane when I was fifteen. I'm wondering if it is what is causing my issues today! I'm tired of going to doctors who say I have classic symptoms of an autoimmune disease but can't say I gage one for sure and tired of seeing a fertility specialist. Is there a class action suit pending?
I took Accutane for a year and a half around age 15. I have unexplained infertility. I also never had my period during most of the Accutane treatment. I have also developed IBS.
My doctor believes my fertility problems are a result of Accutane, she just can't prove it at this time. She thinks within the next 20 years, we will find out more about the devastating effect of the drug. She agrees with me that the drug company won't want to fund the research, but a law firm would. We need to start getting our stories together & support each other.
It is still being prescribed.
Valerie. Check out Accutane action . They are trying to get the truth m how the drug works etc fr6 the manufacturer Roche
Sara, I agree with you that everyone suffering any kind of infertility, that had previously been prescribed Accutane, have a format to consider legal action against the pharmaceutical company that obviously did not provide accurate warnings. Is there a contact who is heading up compiling information from those of us affected?
They give it through a programme in the USA. It is also given here in UK by the Dermatologists. They dnt tell u the joint pains are longterm either. My son was given thir Poision 10 month ago. After 8wks he started with pains whilst taking it. He can't walk far now. Doesn't sleep. Horrendous migraine I had to take him to hospital. Had to drop out of college. This Poision has DESTroYeD my sons life. He is only 17
My husband took accutane in 1989 at age 15. He was diagnosed with a zero sperm count 10 years ago.
I took Acutane when I was 13. I am now 33 and struggling with infertility. My husband and I are in our fifth year of treatments, and recently suffered our third failed ivf. The last ivf cycle was with the use of donor eggs from my sister. My sister is nine years younger than me, but her eggs were not as good as we hoped. She also took Accutane as a teenager. I truly believe there is a correlation and am livid that I may have jeopardized my future because the facts weren't presented. I am very interested in moving forward with action against the makers of this drug.
My cervical mucous has been drastically reduced as well. Also, I recently experienced a miscarriage and was just diagnosed with a blood clotting disorder (APS). The disorder is autoimmune and taking certain meds can put you at risk. Accutane was not on that list (yet!), but I'm sure it's not out of the realm of possibilities. The clotting disorder caused my miscarriage, along with my daughter's premature birth, intrauterine growth restriction, my placental abruption, and restricted bloodflow in the cord.
