I took accutane almost 14 years ago as a teenager. I am now a 32 year old woman who has just been diagnosed with infertility that they believe is linked to autoimmune issues. I truly believe that accutane is the cause of this; from the research that I have done it seems that accutane has been linked to other thyroid-related diseases, but that they have not yet been able to prove a link between accutane and infertility. There are, however, actually more people like me out there than I originally thought. Being diagnosed with ovarian dysfunction has been a horrific, horrific blow. And while there was plenty of information about accutane and birth defects, no one ever mentioned a possibility of future infertility. I was a teenager! This is a tragedy and I believe something should be done about it. If you too have been affected diagnosed with infertility and have taken accutane, please email me. There are plenty of suits against accutance. If there are enough of us, we can come together to do the medical research and get the help we now need.

I took accutane as a teenager, was on it for a few years. I am now 25. Haven't had a regular period in years and obviously have had no luck getting pregnant. I'm pretty sure I am infertile. All of my family members have had absolutley no problems with infertility. I was the only one in my family that has taken accutane. I am devistated that I may never have the opportunity to have a biological child. I was young when I took accutane and I had no idea of the long term effects that this drug could cause.
I am interested in learning more information and willing to take action!!

For any men struggling with sexual dysfunction, try whey protein with creatine and testofen fenugreek. Testofen fenugreek is a plant extract that boosts male testosterone and creatine has been shown to help convert testosterone to dihyrdotestosterone, which accutane has been shown to inhibit. The amino acids in whey protein help with all bodily functions. I take it daily. Also, 30 min of cardiovascular exercise a day is essential.

Wow super scary! My hubby and I have been trying to conceive for over 2 years now. I also went on accutane once when I was 18 and again when I was 24. I'm now almost 33 and have had unexplained infertility. We have been seeing a specialist and just about to start more IVF . My mum has ways asked if it was cause by taking that rubbish as there is no infertility in my family and now I'm wondering the same after reading everyone's stories!!! I feel sick to my stomach thinking that it could be my vanity that has caused my hubby and I so much heartache :(

Hubby and I have been struggling with "unexplained" infertility for years. This is the first time I have looked into Accutane as a cause of it. I took it in my teens, and we were assured that it was perfectly safe. Infertility has been the most heartbreaking, life-ruining experience- Reading these comments is absolutely chilling.

I'm took accutane when I was 15 through till 17 and I am now 31. My wife and I cannot have kids due to me not producing any sperm at all despite the fact that everything seems normal. There is no family history of not producing sperm either apart from my brother who also took accutane as a teenager and is now 29. He to cannot have kids and is producing zero sperm despite everything looking normal.

Studies need to be undertaken to prevent this and help others understand why they are in the circumstance that they are in. At this point I am convinced it is the drug accutane that has caused both mine and my brothers infertility and I'm seriously looking into legal advice.

I took Accutane in 2004 for 5 months. I became pregnant in 2010. My daughter was born with a diaphragmatic hernia CDH. It wasn't caught on ultrasound. She spent one month in ICU and underwent surgery. She is 2 1/2 now. I am so sorry for your loss. I just wanted to say that I too had taken Accutane and believe it could be more than a coincidence.

After many YEARS on accutane and 7 years infertility I underwent experimental lipiodal flushing technique for fertility. It worked and I am now mother of 2 beautiful children. Lipiodal 'moisturises' the womb - effectively removing the affect of the drying accutane. For female infertility it is well worth considering. Give it a go. Dr Neil Johnson (Auckland, New Zealand) pioneered this highly successful technique - Google it.

Hi,
Did you do Lipiodal and ivf? At what point do you so the Lipiodal? Do have endometriosis? How long ago did you take accutane before getting pregnant?

Hi Sara,
I too took Acutane as a teenager and never got pregnant during unprotected sex. I married at 36 and immediately found that I was going to have a slim to none chance of conceiving, even with IVf. I've been an emotional wreck for years and have just found out that I went through early menopause. Let me tell you, that wasn't pleasant. I have always wondered it Acutane was the source of my problems, as well.

I did not qualify for IVF. Took accutane for about 3 years then missed a few years and took it again. High dosage each time and for longer than recommended. Was pregnant naturally within 6 weeks after lipiodal. Had never tested positive for pregnancy prior. Had mild endometriosis. Had this "zapped" 3 years before lipiodal.

I took Accutane as a teenager for a few months for Acne, I stopped taking it as I watched a tv programme describing the effects it had on people. I was not feeling good at the time. Since then I have dry lips all the time.
I am now 32 and had unexplainable infertility problems . I have had all the tests . I have been having unprotected sex with my partner for 3 years. I just heard about infertility as a side effect.

I too took acutaine as a teenager and had to have ivf to conceive my daughter, after being diagnosed with unexplained infertility. I also know of another lady who is going through fertility treatment who took acutaine.

I have had two round sof accutane and have been infertile for 5 years. Unexplained infertility is what they told me. I have always had a sneaking suspiscion that Accutane had to be involved somehow. I would be very interested in persuiing this.

This thread is blowing my mind. I've had 6 years of infertility with one ectopic pregnancy. I used accutane as a teenager as well. I'm curious to know if there are any studies on accutane and infertility. I can't seem to find anything on the internet.

Hi,
I've been doing a research on accutane and fertility, because I was diagnosed with POF... And I am just 22 years old... This is very frustrating.. I took accutane when I was 17 years old and remeber back then my mom convencing me not to take it!!! Wish I just listened to her... And now she believes that POF is linked with the pills I have taken... It's important to mention that I have had my periods regularly before taking the pills and after I stopped them my periods gone crazy till the day I stopped getting them at all...

I had a form of POF - very high FSH levels, but still ovulating. If you are still ovulating at all, please try Lipiodol Flushing technique as this helped me conceive naturally twice even with elevated FSH. Google this - it has a better success rate that IVF and is quite simple - only you do need an egg or two. Seems I had at least 2 left.

I took accutane has a teenager and to this day I am paying the price. I had a miscarriage at 23 at only six weeks along and suffered a horrible bout of depression afterwords. I am going on 30 this year and my husband and I want nothing more than to have four kids and raise a family. I don't know if fertility drugs can help and we are one of those couples who cannot afford them anyways. Seriously people should call one of those attorneys and see if they have a claim.

I am 33 and have been trying for over 3 years even tried IUI. I have one daughter at 24 and when I started breast feeding I broke out bad and took accutane. They said everything seems fine in my testing, but still no baby

I took accutane for just one year as a 17 year old which cleared my acne. I am now 23 and have not had a single period (not even spotting) since. Tests confirm that there is nothing structurally wrong with my reproductive system.
