Accidental Double Dose Of Verapamil Or Valsartan
UpdatedI take 240 mg of verapamil in the morning and valsartan 160 mg (1 in AM and 1 in PM). I'm pretty sure I was distracted this morning and took 2 of one or the other - at 9am. At about 12:00 noon, I started feeling lightheaded and experienced lots of palpitations. What should I do?

Hi Jan,
Sorry to hear about your situation. I see that it's been a few days since the timing of your post... How have you been feeling lately?
Did you find a way to get to the ER or urgent care while those symptoms persisted?
Generally, in case of an overdose, poison control should be on your list of who to contact (at 1-800-222-1222) - They are available 24/7 for your convenience and can provide you with valuable information on what steps to take moving forward. Secondly, I think it's very important that you contact your prescribing doctor about this, because if you really did take 2 of something, that means you'll have 1 less dose before your refill date - which may cause other complications in the near term; but your doctor should be able to assist you in so far as getting through this gap unscathed.
Looking forward to reading any updates you might have...

Thank you.I did have those symptoms. I didn't go to ER. but since I've done this twice now, I am going to put them in daily pill boxes. Hopefully will prevent this from happening again in the future.
It is a scary uncomfortable feeling.
Thanks again

P.S. And thanks for reminding me of the poison hotline. I'll post it...with Emergency numbers!
What could happen if I accidentally took a double dose of valsartan? I mistook a diovan (valsartan) 80mg this evening. So I took my usual dose in the morning. Is this going to cause a problem?
