Afew nights ago I had 2 alcoholic drinks and accidently missed my usual dose of 15mg abilify at 7pm. That night I had bad nausea and stomach pain and was awake all night with my heart racing and feeling extremely paranoid. In the morning I had a lot of energy but this didn't last long. I took my missed dose at roughly 8:30 am and expected the symptoms to dissapear but during the day I was still nauseous and very tired and slightly confused and felt abit off.
Last night I had one drink and took my abilify at the usual time at 7pm. Again I had bad nausea and trouble sleeping and very vivid nightmares that woke me during the night. Can abilify cause sudden onset of alcohol intolerance? I have not been able to find much information online on this subject.

Hello, Loz! How are you? I'm sorry about what you experienced.

Yes, you shouldn't drink, while taking this medication. Those can be normal side effects of Abilify, but when you drink alcohol, it increases the intensity of them, so you may experience them much worse than other times. In addition to what you experienced, it could make you very dizzy and cause excess sedation, when you combine the two, as reported by the NIH.

Is there anything else I can help with?
