Aspergum - Where To Buy (Page 4)
UpdatedAspergum is no longer manufactured, but there must be some places that might still have stock.
Booo Hisssss to Insight Pharmaceutical!!! After looking for Aspergum in the stores I came home and checked on the internet. To my horror it is not being produced anymore. Apparently lots of others feel the same way as I . . . .perhaps we should mention this need to other companies and let them make some money. If they do make it, trust me, I will stock up BIG TIME on it!!!! For every person who posted how many people are there that miss the product also, but do not have access to a computer???
I have an old box. "Questions? Call 1-800-344-7239 or write to Consumer Affairs at: 'Distributed by Insight Pharmaceuticals Corp., Blue Bell, PA 19422-2726.'" Hope this helps. I also miss it.
Let's get the word out there !! If we can have one million people call Insight Pharmaceuticals or e-mail,they have assured me that they will once again manufacture Aspergum. Let's network together and achieve what may seem like " Mission Impossibe " . Together we can do this !!!!
I have an old box and the manufacturer is Schering-Plough HealthCare Products, Inc. but I couldn't find any information using that name about where to now buy Aspergum.
Apparently a lack of sufficient sales is why they stopped making it. A substitute it to take a piece of regular gum and chew it up with an aspirin in it. It's not quite a good as Aspergum, but better than nothing.
The reason they discontinued it was a possible irritaion to the eshopogas in people's throats .
I use to get Aspergum when I had sore throat, it worked well. I want it back.
I have used Asper Gum for over 50 years, & always had success when I had a sore throat. Now that I need some, I'm told it has been discontinued. I say "Why not change your minds & make it again?? since the younger generation have No Clue of this product. At least continue for us Seniors Sake!!! Make less product.
I just tried your suggestion! Anything for relief for my ulcerated throat! (my lozenges burn and Aspergum was my old standby for this kind of sore throat!)
I had a very sore throat this morning when I woke up; I could barely swallow. In desperation, I dug through my medicine chest and found the last box of Aspergum I bought years ago with five pieces left. Chewed one and had the same amazing results I have always had with this product. I was able to swallow, drink, eat--none of which would have been possible with any other sore throat relief product.
Someone ought to start a Facebook page to encourage Insight Pharmaceuticals to bring back Aspergum!
Here it is YEARS later and I continue to search for ASPERGUM! It's truly amazing and it worked. I firmly believe that the pharmaceutical company that produced Aspergum didn't gain enough profit (money!) from this remarkable product ... not giving a second thought to those people who benefited from it's availability. So they dumped it. If sales were down on Aspergum perhaps a reintroduction to the public would have been far more appropriate and public-minded besides being profitable. It's always about money ... the manufacturers are outright stupid! Where's the profit now!
I want my ASPERGUM! THIS IS THE WORST SORE THROAT I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. I SENT MY 80 YEAR OLD MOTHER OUT TO LOOK FOR IT, AND THE STORES SEARCHED AND SEARCHED SO EVIDENTLY THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW THAT THEY DON'T CARRY THE PRODUCT ANYMORE! CEPACOL DOES NOT WORK, COUGH DROPS DO NOT WORK, THOSE SPRAYS DO NOT WORK! I WANT MY ASPERGUM BACK!
I used to be a big believer in aspergum but now that its gone I found that flavored chewable aspirin work just as well, I hope this helps to all of you
Make your own aspergum. Here's what I have been doing since I've been unable to buy Aspergum. Purchase a bottle of buffered aspirin (keep your stomach happy). Put it in a shallow bowl and use the bottom of a spoon to grind up into a powder. Buy gum of your choice (I use wringley's or Extra spearomint - great at concealing taste of the aspirin.) Optionally use chewable aspirin.
Wash hands - duh!
Unwrap the gum, and wet it slightly. Dip gum in the powdered aspirin till it is completely coated. Fold the gum stick over & over & try to mix the aspirin into the gum. Chew immediately or let it dry out and then wrap it in wax paper or plastic wrap or just put in a ziploc bag (be sure it is completely dry before wrapping it in anything. Moldy anything probably isn't going to help your throat.)
Discontinued? Aw, geez, I grew up with Aspergum, it's the aboslute best remedy for a sore throat, unless of course, its streppe. All of the chain stores have not carried it for a while, now. I was getting suspicious about it being discontinued by the manufacturer and now it is confirmed. Drat!
it really work for me i have a toothpain
Please bring aspergum back. It is a wonderful product that releaves sore throats like nothing else.
Hi everyone. I used to rely on Aspergum as well as aspirin based theraflu as I did not like the way lonzenges made my tongue numb.
Well, since both products were discontinued, here is what I do now: I grind up four aspirin in a mortar and pestal that I normally use for spices. I add this powder to a cup of hot lemon tea (eg Lemon Lift from Bigelow) that has enough sugar or honey to hide the salty/bitter of the aspirin. You have to stir really well, and some of the filler will fall out to the bottom - that's ok.
Sip the tea slowly over 15 minutes or so and by the time you finish the cup your sore throat will be gone!!!!
If there was only a few products that I'd wish to be available for my entire lifetime it would be Aspergum. There are few things that do what they say they are going to do as well as Aspergum. I'm just finding out that it was discontinued. It seems like it's nowhere to be found now. After much digging I was able to find a website that apparently you can order it but you have to go pick it up at the store in person, they don't do shipping. It's in MI which is too far to drive for me but If you live in that area of the country, it might be worth a trip. Follow this link and search aspergum.
Alas! #79, Cal's info is no longer valid!!! If you go to the link it allows you in and shows both cherry and orange ASPERGUM as being available. I went to check-out and decided to call their Ph# about shpg. time and they said it's an old website....and then asked what it was...and he said he's had calls from all over-California, etc., trying to get them to ship...but, it's not available. (I posed the ? "why" is it still up on the web-no response excepted it needs updating. Obviously! I'm going to advise my daughter to makeshift her own as there's a rampant flu epidemic here in MI also.
