Antibotic & Weight

I have 11 yr old, weighs 130, can I give amoxicillin 500mg? I have some from when I had throat infection. Her throat is hurting and currently no insurance

You really need to get her to a doctor, if she's still not feeling well. Before you give an antibiotic, you need to be sure that it's an infection and, if it is, you have to make sure you have enough antibiotic to fully eradicate it.

The general dosage at her age is 20 to 50mgs per kilogram of body weight, every 8 to 12 hours.

The FDA classifies this medication as an antibiotic and lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
