It's ok, this can cause alergic reactions sometimes. Good job calling the Dr.

I took one this morning - noticed some itching but didn't think anything of it. Then took second round this evening, after which I began serious itching - prickly itching like I'd gotten into a chigger patch. I am taking this for sinus infection/bacteria. I called the doc and he said stop and take Benadryl. I will have to get a script for something else.

I agree, this idiot is the type of person to give false information out and could get someone hurt. Idiots like this should not be on these sites giving out info. Good post # 21.

@ #20: Amox/Augmentin in suspension form DOES have to be refrigerated. So before you start thinking you know it all and make fun of others it would be great to check the facts.

I'm taking this pill for a very serious congestion and possible bronchitis.

I have no problems swallowing the pill as it's mind over matter. Yes, it's a big pill, but so what, just swallow it. The pill is MUCH SMALLER compared to the bites of food that many people swallow, but with that in mind, it's simply a mental block when people have problems taking pills.

I used to not be able to take any pills at all when I was younger, due to the mental blocks, but once you get rid of those blocks, you'll be able to take the pills easily. With lots of, or a little bit, or without liquid, and hot or cold, it makes no difference.

Also, side effects vary person to person, and just because you take a new pill doesn't mean that any and every little different thing that happens to you ONE TIME is a side effect such as Dry Throat or Upset Stomach and ect.

But then again, I've never experienced any side effects from ANY PILL other then maybe drowsiness.

TDickins,

AMOX TR-K CLV does not have to be refrigerated... Not sure where you got that idea, but it does not say to do so anywhere on the bottle or drug information...

People simply overthink this stuff. I find it rather funny to see so many people that have to have some kind of problem or they are not happy.

I left AMOX TR-K-CLV out overnight for about 6 hours. I forgot to put it back in the fridge. I put it back in the fridge as soon as I noticed it out. Is it any good or is it spoiled?

I too was given these pills for Strep and was put on them for 2 weeks. i finished them yesterday and had no problems, other than a bit of a dry throat in the morning, until about 6 days ago. around then i started getting VERY watery stool and flu like stomach cramps in the morning and when going to bed at night. This caused me to have to run to the bathroom 2-4 times before the cramps started to leave. the only thing i can think is that i ate plain natural yogurt daily for the first week so I'm guessing that's why i didn't have the problems for that week. hope this helped. Oh and i usually have no problems from anything with Amoxicillin in it.

Sorry to hear that. This could be from either the illness you had, and if from the med, it's not uncommon for some side effects such as these to occur in some people. This is NOT an allergic reaction though, so not to worry. But if syptoms are bothersome, check with your pharmacist right away and/or Dr.

I took it for 10 days and finished a couplr of days ago. My stomach is still rumbling from it, and I had watery stool twice a day for the entire duration.

Different antibiotics work in different ways for different people. Sometimes there can be side effects, as with most meds. But for most, this is a very effective and good antibiotic med and used properly following the prescribed directions, it does work. And also of course when the full prescription is taken. Have a happy and blessed Easter all.

Tess
My throat has been very dry also. I plan to ask the dr to not prescribe this antibiotic in the future.

according to the pharmacy directions that I received with my prescription, the pill can be chewed or crushed in order to take them, as long as you follow it with a FULL glass of water or liquid.

# 12, yes that is very true too. Excellent. I guess if one don't want to do the warm thing, then the cold milk has worked for me, but yes, excellent on the warm cocoa as that has totally worked excellent too. Good job. As for the expired pills, that is replies I got too from others so they are no longer here.

To carl.

I find that cold liquids make it very difficult to swallow pills.
In my time of taking those large pills... I find that taking them with hot cocoa or something warm, makes it a bit easier to swallow. The warmth relaxes the throat. Can't even feel the pill when it goes down that way.

PS. You shouldn't take expired pills. And I don't think they would work for just a cold anyways.
All expired pills are supposed to be properly disposed of.

to # 9 named (anon), can you try taking half tab at time with milk? Milk usually helps them go down pretty good. At least me anyway. Worth a try if water don't work.

Amox is used for strep throat (in my case) Its an antibiotic. Does anyone have tips on ways to take the pill. its a bit hard for me to swallow due to the size, even if I break it in half.
