It would be better to take him to his doctor as he may need to try a different medication to avoid this side effect.
The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, nervousness and insomnia.
How severe are the cramps? Are they constant or do they come and go? Has he had diarrhea? Has he been sick recently?
