I have been on Adderall XR 20mg once a day and my dr wrote it for 10mg twice daily; yet the pharmacist filled regular generic adderall xr; I know this because I compared those with a photo from Barr! What should I do? ## I made an error; he filled generic adderall 10mg IR; Not XR as my Dr had written by Barr! ## Don't be alarmed, Adderall 20 mg and the generic version of Adderall 10 mg are the same. The only difference is the mg's. If you feel concerned I would phone your MD and ask he/she what you should do. Or you can even speak with your pharmacist if you can't phone your MD. ## In regards to IR and XR: IR simply means Instant Release, and XR means Extended Release. 20 mg of Adderall XR is supposed to last throughout the day. My 6yr old son was recently diagnosed with ADHD and ODD (oppositional defiance disorder) I am unsure whether to try meds for it as they are so strong and classed as stimulants and he is so young but his behaviour is negatively impacting on all areas of his life. Can people please share their experiences of using ADHD or ODD meds? Or do you know of anything else that would help him. I just want him to be the best person he can be. I have tried behaviour management with limited success and he won't co-operate with seeing a psych. He doesn't co-operate at school or home. ## If your son truly has ADD or ADHD then putting him on medication is really the best option.
