Hi mary,
My answer to your question would be yes, it is safe to take this specific medication past it's due date. According to a Harvard Medical School family health article, except in rare cases (i.e. tetracycline), there is little chance of danger due to taking medications even up to 15 years beyond their expiration date. At worst, it may have lost a bit of potency, but the only way to find out precisely would be to have it lab tested.
