Was prescribed this cream about 2 years ago for a heat rash I developed on lower cheeks and neck during hot humid summer. Been having dry skin and red blotches area around my nose for the past few 6 weeks. Been using 45g Hyderm 1%, top cre off and on. Would use it twice daily; once in morning after washing face and once in evening after shower in lukewarm water. Wash face with cleansing milk and lotion, then apply hyderm. Usu apply hyderm for at least 3-4 days in a row if I remember too. Notice improvement so stop and switch with Aveeno fragrance free moisturizing lotion for extra dry and itchy skin with oat essence and shea butter. But that only works for a few days and the blotches come back. Now it seems that my whole face is itchy and blotchy.

The following symptoms are all listed as side effects of Hyderm (Hydrocortisone-acetate 1%). Ironically these are also the same symptoms that the cream itself is used to treat:

drying or cracking of the skin
acne
itching
burning
change in skin color

If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately:

severe skin rash
difficulty breathing or swallowing
wheezing
skin infection (redness, swelling, or oozing of pus)

From my own understanding, it may just take a while for the Hydrocortisone to get out of your system before you start noticing more improvement in your skin. But that is just my theory, as I don't know how long it can remain in your system.

Are you staying properly hydrated throughout the day as well?
