44 175 Replaced For Hydrocodone
UpdatedI am prescribed hydrocodone/acetaminophen 5-500 for neuropathy and fibromyalgia. I'm allowed 30 pills per month, but they just weren't helping at all lately. I remember the pills looking different this time, but that's sometimes the case with generics. I looked again and they have 44 175 printed on them. I have used the same Walgreens for three years now, and started having issues, only with this prescription. I took a printed prescription from my doctor with *6* refills. When I picked it up, there were NO refills on the bottle. I called and they fixed it right away, but now I don't know what is in the bottle. Are they only acetaminophen? Is this why I have had no pain relief?

Hi Sher,
It looks like they really did mess up on your prescription, since this particular imprint of "44 175" (on a white oval pill) is identified as Acetaminophen 500 mg.
Manufacturer: IVAX Pharmaceuticals Inc.
National Drug Code (NDC): 00182-2152
Learn More: Acetaminophen Details
This could actually be quite dangerous if they had put something completely different in there and you had accidentally taken it. Hopefully you'll be able to get the a-hold of them soon to correct this.
Thank you so much for your reply. Since I only have a total of eight pills left, I have no idea what I've actually taken, since some are the 500 mg dose and some the 650 mg dose of acetaminophen. I looked at the bottle again and it lists Watson as the manufacturer. I'm due for a refill next week and I'm actually considering waiting until then to say anything. When I get the refill, I will open it at the pharmacy counter to see if it happens again. If it does, then I think someone will be in big trouble. Makes me sad. I'll keep you posted. Thank you, again.
That happened to me before as well, except it wasn't a mistake from the pharmacy, but my Dr. actually prescribed me acetaminophen, not my Norco. Hopefully it is just a mistake, and not your Dr. just getting weirded out and not prescribing your pain meds!! I wouldn't wait- I would talk the pharmacy asap!!! Those aren't scored & vicodins are- how did it take you so long to notice???!
I got this refill just before Christmas. I think being busy with the holidays and also being in more pain for some reason, it just didn't cross my mind that I didn't have the correct medication. After not being able to sleep, something just "clicked." I was debating taking one and realized they looked different, so I did an online search and was brought here. I'm thinking of talking to the store manager when I go to pick up my refill and will open it right there at the counter to make sure it doesn't happen again. I will show them what I received for my last refill, at that time. Any other suggestions are welcome!
my son is an addict, i tried to hide these, and I know for a fact I had the right ones at first, then i went back to take my medicine after I had been gone all day and he took all of them out and replaced them with the 44 175. just for your info and not to say anyone else here has this problem, but it happened to me.
omg yes. one time for me it was the pastor's wife. put all narcotic meds, anything controlled, somewhere that no one would expect to find pills. i hide mine in the cupboard in a coffee cup in the back, or inside a tea bag box, in a check register box, underneath the lima beans in the pantry ... you get the idea. never leave your controlled medication in obvious places.
I have had the same experience, but my experience was with Rite-Aid. It's scary because I didn't know until I looked up the number on the unfamiliar looking pill that was mixed in the same bottle with the original pills but just had refilled.. I think I should have been informed. I had a It's A Wonderful Life kind of Moment.
