40mg Oxycontin Op Efficacy
UpdatedThey are horrible. Purdue pharma put too much filler and other stuff in them. They can pass right through your body in your stool, which happened to me. They can make you sick. They take way too long to work. I get about 6 hours and that's just calming my pain down. The docs will tell you they're 12 hour pain relief which is BULL, and the 80mg say 12 hours - Now how can that be? I've been through 6 failed lower back operations, damaged nerves, scar tissue on nerves, 5 deteriorated discs in my upper back, 3 severe multiple bone spurs sticking in my nerves and 2 bulging discs in my neck, and need both knees replaced. And my doc only wants me to take 2 a day. I only get 3 hours of sleep. I'm up at 1am or 2:30am and then take another dose at 9 or 10 am. I CANNOT go through the rest of the day and then try to sleep. I'm in chronic SEVERE PAIN and a lot of pain doctors treat you like they own you.

Well, regarding the dosage and 12 hour time release, they have nothing to do with each other. A higher, or lower dosage is able to be released over the same time period, depending on the method of time released used, the dosage is actually not relevant to that. A 5mg tablet, or a 200mg tablet could use the same time release mechanism, be it 12 hours, 24 hours, or etc.
As to the tablet in your stool, it is also normal for the outer shell to be expelled as waste, even though the medication itself is still released and used by your body.
The FDA does warn that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.
How long have you been taking your current dose?
There is a point at which our bodies can get used to any dosage of a medication and it may stop working as well. In such cases, the dosage usually needs to be raised, or we need to try a different medication.
