Which one works better for pain depends on you and your body, that's something that's highly individualized.
However, the 40mgs of Oxycodone was stronger than the Dilaudid, you'd need 15mgs of it for each 40mgs you were taking of the Oxycodone.
The FDA lists these medications as being narcotic analgesics, so they have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
