387 Watson,or Oxycodiene (Top voted first)

I currently take Watson 387 Vicodin. I'm wondering if porcacet, or Oxycontin, or any other pain medications might help my back pain better, and so i don't build up a tolerance to Vicodin maybe i should rotate every so often. I have a back injury related to a car accident. Any advice on alll the different pain medications on the market I'll appreciate it thanks..Scott

Alternating medications is a possibility you will need to discuss with your doctor. This works well for some people, but it really depends on how your body reacts to any given medication and how fast you build up a tolerance to it.

The problem, however, with switching to Oxycodone is that it is much stronger than the Hydrocodone in the Vicodin, so once you use it, switching back to the Hydrocodone is likely to cause withdrawals and no longer effectively relieve your pain.

That is why most doctors wait, until someone is no longer getting effective relief from any given medication, before switching them to something else.

Hi due to having pins in both knees, and screws in my shoulder, plus back pain due to several surgerys, my doctors have had me on pills I considered 2 strong (made me fill dopey), so I requested vicodin, anyway I have been on vicodin 7.5 for over 10 years, and my body has become used to them, they recommended a vicodin/oxi , prescription says 48-12, would this be better, or just something else that would make me feel dopey?? I know I am getting old at only 55, but just getting tired of all the medicine to just cope with day to day pain, and would like someone's opinion, I want pain relief, without feeling dopey, and without having to take lots of pills, I just want pain relief without the effects that come with most medicine that they want to try, any help would really be appreciated. Thanks!
