30 Mg Ms Contin Vs 70 Of Oxcodone (Top voted first)

I have have been taking percocet for pain of 2 rods in my back and a 357 mag gunshot wound to my thigh which shattered my femur. I was taking 70mg of oxcodone a day for pain but now my new pain management doctor put me on 30mg of MS Contin 2x a day plus 5/325 percocet 3x a day if needed for break thru pain.My question is will this be as effective or not and why? I have been prescribed both a combination of Oxycontin & percocet (for break through pain) and 30mg MS Contin (also with Percocet for break through pain)...I personally think that the Oxycontin works better...but I do know a few people who think that the MS Contin (which I am sure you know is Morphine Sulfate) works better for them...Sorry I could not be more helpful, but I truly believe it depends on the type of pain, and also on how each persons body (including our brains) metabolize each of the scripts...I hope that you are able to find relief with this new combination...

The only thing you can really do is try this regimen and see if it works for you.

My concern, however, is that this is a lower dose of the Morphine (MS Contin) and not a direct conversion from what you were taking of the Oxycodone, so it may not handle your pain as well.

The Oxycodone is actually 1 and half times stronger than the Morphine, so if you were taking 60mgs of it in a day, then an equivalent dose of the MS Contin would be 90mgs, split throughout the day.
