2017 Adderall Not Working

I've noticed that the last three years in a row around this time either at the Adderall generic Sandoz brand is on backorder or suddenly the pills don't have the same affect. So in essence the pharmacy and drug manufacturers I getting paid while patients suffer without the proper medication. Has anyone else had this happen this month? I am taking the Adderall generic 30 milligrams twice a day I feel like I haven't taken anything.

What are the markings on the one they've provided you with?

100% agree! Sandoz 30 twice a day and sometimes 3 times a day does not have the same affect it did. I began noticing this in 2017. I thought it was me. I took a holiday from it and still nothing. They make me tired and foggy. I also could eat large subs throughout the day. How dare they do this?!

Your are correct. They suck! We are being totally ripped off. I take the 20mg Generic Sandoz Adderall 3x per day. This year and especially my most recent prescriptions from May as well as June have been totally worthless. I've taken two already today and can still barely drag. It's like withdrawal because there is simply nothing in them! It's so frustrating considering you are paying for something you are not getting! In Kentucky, where I live, greedy legislators want to pocket money from legal suits won against pharmaceutical companies. They can't do it directly since it is supposed to go to the state. So, this is what they do... they buy loads of stock in the companies who do drug panels and rehabs. Then they turn around and make the most insanely strict laws on the continent when it comes to getting anything controlled. Even if you have never had a drug problem, you still have to take as well as pay for a U/A before getting something controlled. This is to ensure you aren't selling your medication. It's so irritating to think that you have to go through all this hassle only to get absolute junk medication such as this. This crap is so ineffective I don't see much point in even being treated anymore.

Which brand do you have now? Is it Auribundo?
I have found the following to be effective in the folllowing order by the best to worst. Sandoz round all around, Corpharma, Teva and Barr. Auribundo is in my opinion counterfeit.

I find Teva generic Adderall IR to be very potent, much more so than Sandoz or Corepharma.

I take the generic 20 mg version manufactured by CoreLabs dispensed by CVS (who say they have no plans to change suppliers). For at least the last 3 prescriptions from March through July I have noticed a lack of potency. I take my morning dose and fall back asleep. The first batch started crumbling and I thought maybe I was storing them in too warm of an environment, but took precautions in storing them and experienced no change. Still seeing pills swelling looks like a moisture problem or the fact that they no longer have a coating that protects them. I had inserted desiccants supplied by CVS to see if would help. I just think they were either reformulated improperly or purposefully- who knows. I find it alarming the reports that all generic brands have problems of potency from viewing the chat log. I urge everyone to contact their manufacturer and report. I contacted CoreLabs and got contacted by [[email protected]] who claim they are investigating. Anyone here using the brand name Adderall? I would try to get it filled by my insurance if it was more effective than the generic. I had no problem with the oval generic but can't remember when I stopped getting those.

It is criminal what these companies are doing! We are paying our doctors a lot of money so that they will prescribe this much needed medicine to us but these GREEDY PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES are screwing with us by NOT putting the "main pharmaceutical" or the "effective amount of pharmaceutical" into each dose! IE; Aurolife, Barr/Teva, CorePharma, Aurolife, Mallinckrodt, Sandoz/Eon. THE FDA, DEA, BIG PHARMA HAS BAITED MILLIONS OF US WITH THIS MEDICATION, JUST TO RIP IT AWAY FROM US! It's unfortunate that if they don't remedy this greedy fiasco soon, I am sure we will find a way to obtain it in other ways.

I've had the same experience. My insurance will only send to CVS and now I have a bottle of sugar pills. The generics have always been hit or miss in their formulation, but this particular bottle is just tablets of chalk or something. I found this thread trying to figure out what happened his time.

I get my adderall 30mg IR from CVS (South Carolina) and it’s the corepharma generic brand. It works extremely well for me! I picked it up on Tuesday and have been SUPER busy, focused, etc. I also like it because it reduces my appetite. I can go all day and forget to eat (or drink). Love it! Hope you find one that works of you, too.

The 20 nor the 30mg are working for me. Aurobindo made me a nut and Teva is 80% diluted...I am about to take a drug panel and see if it's in my system. They are supposed to be 80% of brand name...am I right?

You are correct. This last refill from Teva, I honestly believe it has about 60-70% of what it should have

Also, for the first time while taking Teva IR, I feel irritable and depressed

I encourage anyone who is encountered this product, especially if you have Teva (the orange colored pill) that you go to the FDA website and fill out a complaint. There really is something wrong. People need to be proactive. It is very easy and it doesn't take very long to do… Do it!

YES! I am having the SAME EXACT issues! I was taking the pink COREPHARMA's 30 mg which were AMAZING!--better than BRAND even, and then 2 scripts later--HORRIFIC! The differences were so astounding it is unbelievable. Then I just picked up some for my ex under the name of MALINKRODT--OMG. don't even try them! They're bad and only dexidrine! It's like bad drugs or something --they are very very BAD. TEVA is disgusting. They give me the WORST side effects. My conclusion is try to find SANDOZ 30 mg or switch to SHIRE'S (the original mfr of brand) authorized generic under the name PRASCO --THEY are ONLY MAKING XR though right now. I'm thinking about switching to XR, but some ppl taking PRASCO say it sucks too! I'm flippin fed up with this BS. I'm about to just have to come off of it I think, but it staves off my depression--except this new s*** is giving me DEPRESSION!

This is ridiculous that we are all having to go through this! I had always been satisfied with Sandoz brand, UNTIL this year! That past few months I have flip-flopped between getting Barr and Sandoz. I couldn't really decide because they both have become hit or miss. BUT this month I picked up the Sandoz brand and I am soooo depressed, anxious, unmotivated, just gross feeling! I have NO energy or desire do do anything. In fact, I feel like I just want to tell my family to go fend for themselves because I just want to sleep until this month is over and MAYBE next month I can find a better brand! I am sick of this crap! I am so disgusted with our FDA for allowing this to happen. These damn pharmaceutical companies can just mix up a batch of pez candy and sell it to us as a high cost pharmaceutical! I am so pissed off with them right now that I could poke their eyeballs out! Sorry for my rant- I had to vent though!

From the various posts there seems to be problems with all the generics. Someone also said here they got the non generic and also bad - I thought this was not even available anymore. Everyone please send complaint to FDA They should know of all brands with problems. You need the LOT number as well as the NDC # (CVS does not put lot # on the bottle and I could not get LOT information except what was presently on hand in the pharmacy). Important - When you go to fill your prescriptions tell them you also want the LOT number. The problem I am seeing seems to be the coating not stable and thus moisture ruins the efficacy. May also be lower than 80% equivalency to begin with. FDA asks if you have any on hand to send a sample if they need it. I also sent info today to CVS corporate I am tired of all this as well.

I have been on amphetamines since 1969 to 1973 every day (Vietnam era USAF E-5 Staff Sgt) & again, from June 1994 every day until, this writing January 6th, 2021. I realize this topic is strictly on Adderall (mixed amphetamine salts).....don't want to steer too far away from the topic........

I took Adderall brand name (1997 to 2007) by Richwood Pharma Co (Kentucky) 1997 to around 2002, later brand name Shire US 10 mg. until 2007, then, switched to Barr Labs, in 2007, later, after Teva bought Barr Labs (Sellersville PA USA) NDC 0555-0972-02 100 tabs ten mg until January of 2014. They all worked satisfactory for me. In the here and now the Teva generic DextroStat, are not as strong as they were 20 yrs ago, (but it might be in my head) I tried them for about 6 months, and they kicked in within 30 min vs todays Teva Dextroamphetamine takes about 1 hr minimum.

My insurance co. took them off the formulary Jan 2014 I/R for generic, which I switched to around 2008 to 2014 & it was excellent for my ADHD & my treatment resistant Depression. As everyone knows, the USA pharma industry radically changed for the worse, price fixing, DEA mandatory quotas, was it around 2017? What did I do? My last 100 Adderall generic costs me cash over $225.00 in Jan 2014 from a independent owner pharmacist !! (100 tabs x 10 mg)

My last shrink who took care of me for the past 21 years, allowed me to switch to 10 mg. of generic DextroStat, a/k/a dextroamphetamine 10 mg instant release, in March of 2014 to Dec of 2019 when he retired. (Was on 10 mg x 4 tabs of Adderall 1997 instant release, by 2014, I was reduced to 30 mg of dextroamphetamine sulfate I/R pure, (d-dex), later, to x two x 10 mg. 2017 to 2019/2021.

I submit to you back in the day, the ratio of amphetamine resin (base) was a ratio of 1, on a microgram, or milligram basis, vs. d-amphetamine (dextroamphetamine) I/R 3, meaning 3 times stronger than base amphetamine sulfate, vs. methamphetamine a "5" meaning 5 times stronger than base amphetamine sulfate. (Because I took either Benzedrine, or Dexedrine or Desoxyn in the 1970's !!!

My CVS pharmacy were sold out of Generic Dextrostat, (dextroamphetamine sulfate mfg of my choice was Teva/Barr 10 mg. and pharmacists told me when the wholesaler delivered the product he hoped in January 2021 to CVS in Charlotte, North Carolina, he promised me he would be sold out within 72 hours, due to the demand !! on Dec 5th, of 2020 !!!! Thank the DEA quotas for this.

I have a PCP who has my medical records who wrote me a script for 180 x 10 mg of my instant release dextroamphetamine tabs. I returned to a rare independent pharmacy, who knows me, personally from years ago, and, they told me, they would special order me either Teva Barr from a different "unfriendly wholesaler" or the same wholesaler, did also carry Mallies, and, I agreed to pay up front, US over $300.00 for 72 hour service for 100 x 10 mg of the Mallies, hdqtrs St Louis, Missouri. I am old enough to be on Medicare, and my usual costs the past 3 yrs are only US 7.00 for 90 tabs of any generic Dextroamphetamine sulfate I want. My bottle of Richwood Adderall 10 mg has a NDC #58521-032-01 (100 tabs x 10 mg) I have about 50 tabs left. And I am Sad !!!

I submit to you, I squirrel away emergency meds, and I had a full bottle of factory sealed 100 ct of Richwood Adderall, 10 mg mfg date 1997 expiration date 2000. Stored in my dark closet, low humidity no sunlight, for a rainy day, for the past 22 years. I compared & finally opened the bottle of my last stored bottle of either Richwood Adderall brand name 10 mg or my Dexedrine brand name, of pink orange E-19 Glaxo Smith Kline 5 mg, also issued in the 1990's. Here are my results:

1/2 tab (5 mg of original brand formula of Adderall) are as strong as fresh Mallinckcrodt 10 mg of dextroamphetamine, which are supposed to be 1/2 of the formulation to be much stronger mg for milligram !! Why? I have experimented every AM at wakeup and the 22 yr old brand Adderall 1/2 tab of a 10 mg kicks in within 20 minutes, vs. the fresh dextroamphetamine I/R kicks in at least 1 hour to 1.5 hrs always on a empty stomach. Both peter out about the same 4+ hrs later.

Therefore........I agree with the other posters here, there is a "huge difference" in the bioavailability of how our bodies process the stimulants, vs, 1960's to at least 2012 to 2014. that is over, 50 years. I also blame our USA govt, and the greedy pharma mfgs, and I have lost all trust in the FDA, and I do not like the DEA. Even the "bioequivalence" of the FDA standards imho can be screwed with by cheap fillers and binders. as imho the pharma mfg and the retail pharma firms have sold out the very cheapest pill of the month for all of us ADHD or Narcolepsy sufferers !!! (to the price sensitive retail chain pharmacies) !!!

Just do your research on Teva/Barr guilty pleas by dozens of US states in lawsuits to over 4 to 6 mfg of price fixing that began around 2012 to 2015+, and the massive layoffs of ten of thousands of employees + executives walking off the job out of disgust !! Finally did you know that the Sherman Act was invoked to force Teva/Barr to abandon the production of generic I/R Adderall to farm it out, with little control over the quality standards to who knows who actually manufacturers the present diminished quality of once stellar Adderall brand or generic of I call yesteryear. Imho the stimulant industry has gone to He*l in the past 10 years ! End of my rant !

"Generic" by Katherine Eban is indeed a fantastic book. Everyone should read it. It explains so much about why our medications stopped working or started having negative effects. I just wish there was a way to stop this.

Generic is a s*** show. Generic Klonopin is also garbage. I saw on the news that there is no FDA oversight when these generic pills come from other countries. One person went to the ER and had 0 benzo's in his urine so he was taking nothing. Same thing happened to me and it's not just benzo's its GENERICS in general now. CVS will not let me have my .5 mg Klonopin (NAME BRAND) AT BEDTIME ONLY, until I run out! When I took the generic I could get it 12 days early because it was nothing. I had to cancel a vacation over not being able to get me prescription ONE day early. Prisoners in our homes over a prescription is insanity.

Same here, past 3-4 years the meds have gone bad and adverse side effects then cause major fatigue! Meds are not the same anymore. I’ve had 4-5 meds majorly hit all at once...now it’s my Dava pharma Xanax and now my dr who had a consent order is retiring cause he’s an internal medicine dr, not a specialist, and didn’t know certain meds are now an agenda to bump disabled and Medicaid people off. Pharma is an agenda to bump people off! After what I’ve been through it’s so clear you got each medication doing the opposite of what you got it for! And I’ve never had issues going back to 1991, 2003 and 2006 for each medicine... 1991 for ADD meds.

Yes I take 10mg twice a day and I too get very tired and want to sleep. Not always but it happens and I thought what I need to up my dose. I have been on 10mg for about 3 yrs. and sometimes I do take one and a half at times.

The following is My personal experience only:

I'm in my third year now taking Adderall for Adult ADD Inattentive. I have never taken Brand or XR, only 20mg IR or 30mg IR generic Mixed Amphetamine Salts. The Manufacturers I've used include Teva, CorePharma, Aurobindo, Sandoz, Actavis, Mallinkrodt...basically all of them. Some better results than others, but ALL of them had one common thread. And that is...of the 30 days in a month, all of the generic Adderalls, for me, will lose efficacy as the month goes on. By the 15th of the month, I feel like I'm taking a sugar pill and curiously, I notice that the texture of the tablet is deteriorating from firm and sleek to chalky and crumbly. Every month....same thing. I spend many hours in my car for work, and I always have my medications in a black attaché case with me. I began to notice how much high heat my meds were being exposed to. On One unusually, scorching hot day recently, as I was fishing out pills from the bottle, a few of the Aurobindo generic 30mg IR tablets had actually crumbled so much, they were now at the bottom in tiny pieces and fine dust. What? That night, on a whim, I took all my meds out of my briefcase and put them in the fridge on a low cooling setting and left them there overnight. The next morning, all of the remaining Aurobindo tablets were sleek and shiny again and doses from that day forward always "work"...almost like they did in the early days. My conclusion is:
If subjected to high temperatures or direct sunlight for an extended period of time, the active ingredients in generic Adderall IR, (L-Amp and D-Amp), will lose their efficacy to the point that it does feel like I'm taking a sugar pill every dose from middle of the month until next fill date. I now put my Adderall (from any manufacturer) in the fridge every night and today it is "working" much, much better. Almost like the early days.

This is my personal experience only. I have no scientific evidence or any proof that my conclusions will affect others taking this medication in a similar manner.

I have been on Adderall since like 2001 before that I was on provigil, but yes the Adderall is getting crappier and crappier by the yr! I get 90 pills a month 20mgs and they work for like 3dys after I get them filled and then i start to feel like I didnt take anything again. I hate the orange generic ones , lately I've been getting white ones or yellow. But none of them work like they used to. And I run out always like 1 week or 2weeks to soon and spend my days In bed because the withdrawals are very bad from being on them for so long, I cant think about doing anything I don't do anything for the first like 2dys but go to bathroom and get small things to eat. Nobody cares the government let's the genetics be only 40% of the drug I think and the rest fillers so different ones have different levels its BS!
