2012 Oxycodone 30mg Shortage In Florida (Page 51)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

My spouse, who is in severe, chronic pain, has been a customer of Walgreens for many years. We live in Pinellas County, Florida. Everyday this week we have driven from Walgreen's to Walgreen's trying to fill his prescription for Roxicodone 30mg, to no avail. I cannot get any help from his regular pharmacy. I know that it's dangerous for them to tell a total stranger which store has them in stock, but I don't understand since they know him, why they can't call around or give us any assistance. I am at a total loss as to what to do & would appreciate any information that you could provide. It is so hard to see him in so much pain. Thank you.

Felice I think it is like any other drug, it depends on how your body reacts to it, you know. I would suggest doing some research on it and maybe get your doc to write you a small script and see how it works for you. My brother cannot take them and I do know you have to eat before taking as they can affect your stomach acids quite badly. I see the whiplash of the DEA with Walgreens is effecting us all everywhere.

Thanks Scratchy for the info. Will check into that. So the filling of the scripts within a certain perimeter seems to be happening in other places as well.WOW!! I can only truly hope that the powers that be do not ever get a loved one that needs some sort of medication and cannot get it. What goes around comes around. We are trying Target this week, been waiting for the pharmacy manager to get back into town and speak with her. You would think that a town as big as Jax there would not be a problem.

Just an FYI - the Walgreens on 436 (Altamonte Springs) finally got oxycodone 30mg in today, after waiting 3+ weeks for them...BUT, as of June 1st they have a new restriction - they now have a 15mile radius, or was it 5mile, where they will no longer fill Rxs if your ID address is not within that radius...I've been going to this pharmacy for 2 1/2 years and today I was refused...this is the ONLY pharmacy I've found that even has it and the Pharmacist, who has assisted me many times in the past, was not budging on this new "rule"...so they are making it more and more difficult to get oxycodone scripts filled...and a customer ahead of me was given a hard time because he didn't have a long-acting, or extended release, medicine to go along with the short-acting...so this is another new restriction as of the 1st of June....unbelievable!

shiLark - my Doc has been trying to get me to use morphine instead of oxys because of all the issues right now but I was under the impression that they make you xtremely drowsy, non-functional...is this not accurate?

Just thought I would pass this on . . . Caremark will fill your prescription by mail for Oxycodone as long as you have a valid MRI that your doctor is willing to send them. I gave up driviing all over town because I went through the same thing. Hopefully mail order will work for you : )

Proud Mama..No 5.00 and up at Mom and Pops and that's if your lucky. Also to the poster about changing med's yes we have tried that also, and cannot find the Opana 10 mg IR either. The new ER's are making people really sick so they don't help the situation either. Update on Jax Walgreens, today we got stories " Oh you have to live within 6 miles of the pharmacy". O.K. now that's a new one!! And of course our pharmacy that we try to deal with all the time did not get anything in this week again. I have started taking names, times, dates in hopes that if something is done about this legally, will be able to help others.

A Walgreens pharmacist told me that because of dea, Walgreens will not fill prescriptions for pain management customers past 6 months. I have been on these meds (oxycodone 30mg) and others for over 6 years. Despite having a legitimate script from a legitimate doctor. I have even spoken to a district manager, hoping they would understand I am not from a pill mill. I am incensed. There has got to be something done about this. Is there some kind of petition or anything as a group that is being done?

I have insurance that pays for my medication. I know some of those that are on the medication aren't fortunate enough to have insurance. There are those pharmacies that are worst than the drug dealers that charge outrageous prices because they know that the drug is in high demand. I know of a couple of them where I can get my script filled right now but I refuse to pay for it when my insurance pays for it in full.

first of all you cannot fill a narcotic if you leave the county wherefyryf your doctor is so why are you traveling all over get your doctor to change your medication because you are wasting your time and I am sure you are employed because that is what they should check one how are thes e people paying for their meds.

good luck with that if your not on death row forget about it you wil be rolling all around town and not to be rude or anything but I seen a guy use a wheel chair just so he could get his script so sooner or later the are going to want to see our medical papers which I am almost sure that is against the law.but let me tell ya theses kids out there have ruined it for everyone as far as I am concerned the ones that died should be dead cause they should have not been misusing them in the first place.

I'm in the same boat and I don't know what to do. I'm tired of going from pharmacy to pharmacy only to be told no. Half of the time they don't even look in inventory or check the computer, they look at the script and immediately say they don't have it. I've traveled from Pinellas county to Hillsborough and Pasco with no luck.

...Are you in Jacksonville? I'm in Orlando and having the SAME problem! I don't understand what's going on but it has brought me to tears that these pharmacies are frivolously playing with our healthcare with the simple yes or no that they are choosing to use...one word over the other will determine whether we are in pain, miss work, end up losing our jobs and are not able to function around our homes...I'm a single parent and head of my household...this isn't a game and it's unfair treatment to those of us with valid scripts and health issues...I'm at a loss...have resorted to posting on blogs in search of any, ANY help or tips whatsoever where I can get my Rx filled.

Where is "Kay's" ?? I have a similar post about this same thing and..... I am willing to go to any Mom & Pop, out of area/county pharmacy as long as I know it will get filled! This is getting ridiculous and I can't miss work, I have to be able to function...the bus is my form of transportation, due to my injuries, and I have been suffering for weeks! HELP - anyone!

Jax, FL Question - I noticed that some of you mention that you will be trying to fill your script at a "mom and pops" shop because of Walgreens inability to fill your prescription. As expected, I am experiencing the same issue filling only 60 of the 30mg oxycodone. Can anyone recommend pharmacies to try that aren't over $3.00/tablet?
