2012 Oxycodone 30mg Shortage In Florida (Page 41)
UpdatedMy spouse, who is in severe, chronic pain, has been a customer of Walgreens for many years. We live in Pinellas County, Florida. Everyday this week we have driven from Walgreen's to Walgreen's trying to fill his prescription for Roxicodone 30mg, to no avail. I cannot get any help from his regular pharmacy. I know that it's dangerous for them to tell a total stranger which store has them in stock, but I don't understand since they know him, why they can't call around or give us any assistance. I am at a total loss as to what to do & would appreciate any information that you could provide. It is so hard to see him in so much pain. Thank you.
@ mouth337, thank you & "Rick " for putting "shameus " in her place, so to speak. But you don't have to explain, or give ANYONE your medical history. Most definitely not her. People like that don't even deserve our time. How pathetic she was even on here, does she bounce around online just looking for people to insult? Oh darn, I guess we will never really know. (Lol) :-)
shameus, sorry to report your abuse. Go yank some other site.
I may have a solution. My son is disabled and has taken Percocet for 2 years. Same situation...went to the pharmacy to pick up one months supply and the pharmacy said it could be January 2013 before Percocet is available.
Long story short.....his doctor told him to try the hospital pharmacy. YES...they had Percocet. Maybe this is something you can try?? Good luck!
nikki- i just got my 10/325 percs yesterday along with my oxycontin and theres no shortage. its discrimination.
they are just lying. where do u live. if ur in my coun ty i know a pharmacy. indian river coiunty? i can help u here.
Lee County.....Thanks :-)
Great...here I go again...So sick of this. I was told last month by my pharmacist that DEA did an audit and as long as quantities were low, we would have no problem filling. I only get 84, 30mg oxycodone a month. Today, I go in for my refill, and they are out again!!! Now, starting tomorrow, Dec 1st, a new protocol is in place and it will take hours before your prescription is available -IF they even have them in stock. The doctor has to be verified, AND the doctor's office must accept insurance, AND the patient will be under a strict protocol, ie if the medication is medically necessary...wtf...the pharmacy is to decide whether our medical condition is medically necessary to be prescribed this medication...who does decide this...the DEA????, the pharmacist??? and WHO will be approved??? Cancer Patients only?? I don't know but where is the HIPA law in all this??
I'm so aggravated. Finally switched back to this medication last month and had one good month...What a let down today...Now I can't fill and tomorrow is the new law with my "chain pharmacy".....What will the results of this be...I can only imagine!! My rheumatoid arthritis and , degenerative discs and damaged nerves will not get approved!!...Ha!! UNbelievable!! Wonder if Hep C and liver disease will get approved??
Did you happen to try your hospital pharmacy?
Not this time...Hospital Pharmacy... but I have before and they were no help and they seemed to frown on this medication....
Frustrated cpp. Where are you? In Florida? Wow, that sounds like a load of Crap! What pharmacy? Walgreens I bet! Maybe we will have better luck with smaller pharmacies. I don't know, I keep hearing so many different stories. I just really wish we could get correct information, consistantly. Is that too much to ask for people who need the medication that works for for them. And be able to fill it every month. Ugggh, this is so very frustrating!
@frustrated they switched me from my 30mg roxies to 30mg oxycontin. and percocet for breakthru and works well and instock e very month. its not a roxi but its still oxycodone just time release....works well for 8 hours but not 12...just a thought if u keep having trouble
@Roro Yes I am in Florida and it is Walgreens! I have tried different pharmacies but they don't want to take new patients or will just tell me they don't have them. I have been at Walgreens for 3 years.
@Rick.....I can't afford OxyContin...I have no insurance since my cobra ran out and with preexisting, can't find affordable insurance. I have read I can apply for GEHA insurance and they will accept us if we have been denied previously...I need to get that done and get back on insurance...my new employer does not offer insurance:-(
Does anyone know where I could possible fill 84, 30mg oxycodone in Orlando? I have several other medications, non C2 that need filled also...BUT I need to keep them all together. One is my steroids for muscle inflammation that I need to take now in hopes of alleviating my leg pain...it's a constant charlie horse down my whole leg and my leg goes numb quite often.
Did Walmarts start carrying them? I know my Walmarts told me no a few months ago. And Publix...has anyone filled there before? I used to use both pharmacies before I switched to Walgreens.
I don't know anywhere that has roxycodone 30mg, especially Walgreens. Those pos. Turned so many of is away after years of filling there. I brought my prescriptions in on on Thursday, and said won't be able to fill till today.. every month I'm put off 1-2 days, which eats up my reserve. I heard a real doozy outside pain clinic the other day. It was said as of new yr, they're cracking down even harder, and drs will reduce meds by at least 25% on every cpp. The dea has been i. Fl cracking on drs and pharmacies. Hope this isn't true. I feel if you've always had meds @ appt, pass monthly urine tests, they should leave those patients alone. I barely get by, and if they cut 25%, I know many will be worse off than me. So dirtbag said he still gets his roxies... I said ur lucky, I haven't been able.to.fill them in 6 months. Walked away, wasnt gonna ask where. Peace out
25 cut back and ide be happy. they cut me in more than half and i had to suffer 5 months while my body went from 6 30's roxy a day to 30mg oxycontin(yes time release) and 10mg percs for breakthru...its bs but i must say im surprised im doing as well as i am but it took 5 months for my body to adjust to these levels and im in still alot of pain but the drs dont care.
the days of getting 30mg roxies 4-6 hours are gone
if your only getting cut down 25% be thankful its not more etc.
@Fraustrated , Im one of them lucky (DIRTBAGS)as PANICINPAIN Says because i get my meds filled every month, but it is so costly that i have to split them up in halfs and hope i can get my next two weeks worth by then but NO INSURANCE is hell, but most pharmacies that have them every month wont take insurance for them so it wouldnt do me any good! I dont understand how they can do this except maybe differnt regulations, i dont know, but i wish you and all the best.
Hi!
I just signed the petition "Florida

This is to Mike, what do you mean by a Jew Laywer? Did I possibly read your post incorrect? I am someone that is not Jewish, however, some of my family are of the Jewish faith. I get the jokes, especially because I am from the South, where sometimes it's nothing but ignorance that these Jew jokes are used. Back to the subject of pain, I am one of you. And I feel everyones pain on this site. You have to be a chronic pain sufferer to know this hell, and feel I am very close to becoming someone who might be kicked out of a Pain Clinic after 10 yrs. of being a patient that did all I could to follow the rules. Also this Purdue issue has me scared to death. I would really like to know what you meant by Jew Lawyer? Might it be that possibly Jewish Dr.'s are very well educated and like most lawyers, possibly understand there is money to be made. I am sure there are quite a few laywers that don't want to go near this due to the subject matter. So, since you know that I was not raised Jewish, (not that this means anything) I honestly would love to know why you think this. Trust me, I have heard everything and by no means judge you, just curious. Meanwhile, from one pain sufferer to another, I get it! And I know your pain and feel it everyday. Good luck, and by the way if you have a name of a person to help all of us out here, please pass the info. to us all. aly
aly- nothing meant by "jew lawyer" its a joke and i grew up in long island new york where i guess people have a sense of humor.
one little fact...pick up a phone book, open to attorneys and especially in florida i would bet, 3 of 4 attorneys in the state are jewish.....so even though i meant as a joke and you just dont understand but its a fact there are alot more jewish attorneys than any other religion.
ITS A JOKE LIGHTEN UP is bottom line...time to take the oxy:)
@doneplayin, I didn't mean everyone who can get their med filled is a dirtbag. I was making an observation of this 1 person. I'm glad to know you're able to fill your med. My apologies for making a stupid statement. Just went thru an ordeal and still didn't get full med til tomorrow. This whole situation makes me angry, and frustrated like so many of us. Peace.
@Panicinpain, cool...been in that same possision in a way. I couldnt get mine filled but a 20 something couple in front of me were picking up there scrips and he asked pharmacist if they were the "Ms" or the "As" So i knew already from their track marks but that somed it up!But i guess i didnt look hooked enough for Walgreens i guess,LOL! NOT! And to EVERYONE READ.........(Google) Medscape. You will learn so many things about what the pharmacist are basing their"" sorry we dont carry them," OR " I dont feel comforable filling that" And the TRUTH & Florida Policy on Opiates, from the doctors to pharmacist, when you are right you will know it and let them know you know the real rules and policies.
