2012 Oxycodone 30mg Shortage In Florida (Page 40) (Top voted first)

My spouse, who is in severe, chronic pain, has been a customer of Walgreens for many years. We live in Pinellas County, Florida. Everyday this week we have driven from Walgreen's to Walgreen's trying to fill his prescription for Roxicodone 30mg, to no avail. I cannot get any help from his regular pharmacy. I know that it's dangerous for them to tell a total stranger which store has them in stock, but I don't understand since they know him, why they can't call around or give us any assistance. I am at a total loss as to what to do & would appreciate any information that you could provide. It is so hard to see him in so much pain. Thank you.

My dad's pharmacist told him at the 1st of the year the FDA is lifting the rules on How many bottles of these medications pharmacies can get a month, because of the out pour of pain patients sending letters and also some stockholders and some government people voicing concerns. Let's all cross our fingers. 2 months ago I switched to the 20mg as suggested by someone one here but was only able to get 20 one month and 80 this month, now I'm stuck with a script for 20 20s and no one has those.

@ panicnpain, I'm with you about opana. It's needing with my sleep too. Can't sleep more than a fee hours a night. Them I'm always sleepy. Does it do that to you too? I'm on ir & er. Also 1/2. Or less pain relief I was getting with oxycodone. Only blessing is I CAN fill them on time every month.

post haste has them,, but i cant afford their prices for 15 mg they want 5 A PILL for 30 mg they want 8 a pill. i used to pay 50 cents a pill last year, now they dont even look, they say " good luck finding oxy in florida" I;m wondering if i should travel to dade county, or go north to boca? any ideas? i have rx for both 15mg and 30 mg help !

@ roro, I'm only taking the opana ir 10 mg, 5 a day. They do make me a zombie all day, and I take my last one 3-4 hrs before bed. Thank God I have xanax and ambien to sleep. The opana doesn't relieve pain like oxycodone 30mg ir. I can also fill the opana every month. The pharmacist told me he will never fill roxycodone or dilaudid. It's ridiculous when those are the 2 meds in opana. Its all about the money. Opana makes them a much greater profit. I know a few who still can fill their roxycodone 30mg thru mail order.. it's so wrong for this to be happening. My quality of life and productivity has diminished bc I'm like a walking zombie all the time. Hoping what the previous person wrote is true about after the first of the year. Then what do I do? Can't fill the roxycodone prescription with current pharmacist. Between a rock and: a hard place. This is the only place I share med info. Too afraid to tell anyone. God bless

@panicnpain thanks for the info, i've been getting the same er, muscle, ir for 6 years, i've only had trouble this year, and now its impossilbe unless i pay 3 a pill ( that means 504 a month) just to fill 1 rx, i cant do that anymore, get this,,,mom & pop are soo greedy, i changed to diaulaudid, as they are about 400 dollars cheaper, then the pharmacy yesterday i found out, made dialaudid 8 mg 4 dollars a pill!!!!! i had no prob filling in NY when i visited there, everywhere i went to fill my 15s 30s and mscontin said we havent had them for 3 months,, is this going to continue? i asked my doc if he was blacklisted he said no, I dont have my operation until February, i need my meds and i dont have 500 for them i always used to fill cvs, i'm in the records that i've filled before, i dont know if i am being discriminated, i come in looking professional and non-threatening, wtf?

@hollywood, I hear you! I'm a woman in my early 50's, originally from NY, ( been in this crap hole for over 20 yrs) and have 2 yrs of records of filling @ Walgreens. They don't care, they assume bc of these meds we take, we're all druggies. I always dress nicely, act like a lady, and as soon as they look at prescription, their attitude changes. I know this pharmacist is helping me w/ opana bc he knows I'm in pain, and I'm older and not a dirtbag. The thing that really angered me was the first time I went there, said he'd help me fill opana, but to never bring him prescriptions for roxycodone or dilaudid bc he won't fill them. Tells me those 2 meds are a lot cheaper, and opana has a much larger profit margin. My spouse has me so upset, calling me a druggie and tells me I'm out of my mind and mentally ill. It's bad enough to be in so much pain, having so much trouble with getting pain relief and then having a spouse being verbally abusive. I'm a good person, raised 2 kids who are very successful and even helped raise his 2 kids. I'm so defeated, and depressed and feel so alone. I tell no one I need pain med, bc of the stigma attached to it. Most assume you're just a druggie. God bless each of you, as we deserve a basic human right to pain control.

@ Panicnpain, gosh I'm so sorry to hear you don't have support from the one person who knows your situation! That is awful! I feel the same about telling people. But lately I just don't give 2 craps about what they think of me. Ive been on this pain roller coaster for 20 years. I tell my sisters the meds I'm on n they are like " who gives u that Crap " HELLO! they know how bad my spine is, but unless u live it u just don't get it! I too hope things change for us next year. I'm so sick of roumors & b****ing! Really it comes down to who is behind the pharmacy counter, & if they "feel " comfortable that day to fill scripts. Good luck & God bless.

@panicpain, i hear that all the time, i stopped even telling my family, cuz the drug insinuation, i refer to it as my medication, and guess what, as a cpp, i am totally unproductive and useless, cant even work, Quality of life suffers without my meds. look, i'm 50 too, and i chose this after all the holistic treatments,and options were ineffective for me. I'm an adult, this works for me, but i am unable to even fill my rx, You'd think what works for you and as long as you are productive, people would stop negative judging. I'm appalled that after all these years the workers at the pharmacy can't help me, and send me on willd goose chases, are they sadists? Also, i dont understand how there are selling on the streets, where do they get them filled?? im starting to get suspicious of employees of drug stores making extra money on the side with these things.

Hollyweird, I agree, it's a sad state of affairs how we are treated. The new name for what we go through is called the pharmacy crawl. Nice that there's even a name for legit cpp. I too tried many different thing to alleviate my pain. Narcotic treatment was the last resort. I'm an educated good person. I've never felt so judged as I've been made to feel in the last 5 months. To add insult to injury, my spouse has turned on me after 30 yrs. I do everything for him, keep a spotless home, cook every night, etc. My 28 yr old daughter is the only one who knows I take this medication. She is angry I'm being treated like this from her own father. I also have a severe panic disorder and depression. I try very hard to keep it together, and not fall apart. I'm in such a dark place right now, I can't stop crying that the man I took care of for years when her was sick has cut me so deep with his words. I don't think I can forgive him for it. I pray you can fill your prescription. I don't even have an answer as to how though. I carry around 2 yrs of print outs from Walgreens, to show I filled there every month. No one cares to see them. I just got the same story, 1. Not taking new patients 2. Not comfortable filling it. 3. We don't have/ carry that medication. God bless prayers sent to you.

@panicpain, im so sorry your hubby sounds like a jerk, did you ever try going to the pharmacy with your daughter alslo ask for the pharmacy mananger, make sure your doctor is not on blacklist, don't tell the pharm techs all your injuries, their job isnt to play doctor, their job is to fill what doctor writes, and ask pharm manager, if mgr is not on duty, go back when she is, maybe you should go in on crutches? well, i;ll let you know if anything works im still trying i hate it. good luck & i understand. oxycontin has a patience assitance program bring that info to your doctor, for your er for them to apply for you,

Thank you holly! I use a cane, and back in may, when I went to Walgreens, the lady i that knew me for 2 yrs said ".good luck with that" and handed me back prescription
I came home and called corporate to file a complaint. Some jerk called me right back and said I bet this is for roxycodone? I said yes, I've been a customer for years. He said, it's the pharmacists discretion to fill or not to fill. Another pharmacy had the nerve to tell me he wanted to see my mri's, and maybe he would fill the roxycodone in 2 weeks. I walked out, it is their job to serve the customer. It's not good enough for alot of pharmacists. They're playing Dr. I recently heard the dr who came back to pain clinic I've used for yrs, was in trouble for over prescribing, yet the pharm I've been using has helped me. If I had the money, I'd go to someone else. I don't think it would matter much bc trying to fill.roxycodone 30mg ir is like trying to find the holy grail. This whole state is messed up, but yet I'm sure they're on the streets. Peace and thanks for advice, I appreciate it. I pray you can get your meds.

i had a pharmacist ( mom & pop ) try to lecture me about "you dont need that " etc. i said, " well, this is dr.'s orders, if you have any questions, call him, i will not discuss my personal information in public" of course he denied & degraded me, i left. i just dont understand why they dont fill like a normal pharmacyy, simply call doctor for verification, and ask for you to sign and pay. yesterday, my doc actually said "i have a patient that books a flight and room to ny every month to get his rx filled" i guess that is the ticket., is there any rite aid where u live?

@panicpain also, when they say " we dont have any" say, "can you make a courtesy call and see if the one across town has this in stock?" She did it, figured they wouldnt lie to their fellow employees, so i overhear as it was on speakerphone, " this is pharm tech sandy smith store 1313 do you have 15 mg" they go " hold on" in 10 minutes they come back & says "no we dont" then the tech said to me, "well , they dont like to say over the phone" I said, "even to their own fellow pharmacists? she kept you on hold for 10 min. and u cant be certain she is telling the truth?" she said, yes,,,, unreal.

No rite- aide in my area. There used to be one yrs back. There's either cvs or Walgreens or mom and pop.. they got us all over the barrel. I've tried so many different things like asking them to call another store." We don't do that" you'll have to go there yourself. It's bad enough driving around in pain, then it looks bad to be going into every pharmacy within the area. Walgreens really angered me, bc they're a nationwide store. You're in their system and yet they still won't help. I can't tell u how many times I went to different ones and was told go back to your Walgreens! Done with them, I will never patronize another Walgreens again. Take care

tRY THE STORE ON FEDERAL HWY AND DANIA BCH BLVD WEST..The store is a mom and pop store called Liggett Rexall Drugs its on the west side of Federal Hwy
in Dania Beach...the entrance and parking is in the back
Not sure what they charge now but I use to pay $180 for a 180-30 mg roxi.$1 each was a great price with no insurance

holly, now your fishing...pharmacy techs making money on the side...you have a better chance of seeing God. with all the cameras and only 1 pharmacist at once responsible for all c2 rx's, theres no way thats going on. they get them from robbing the distribution centers, etc and then market them onto the streets. all the people who use to get them dont anymore so 90% of oxies off streets today are from organized crime and blackmarket roxies. there not legit people selling anymore...mostly.

For those with insurance. Do not be afraid to use your mail order program! These RX's must be mailed in, but I can guarantee you they are always in stock. Having worked for the largest pharmacy benefit manager / mail order pharmacy, I dealt with people having trouble all the time.

As a mail order pharmacy we were able to keep insane amounts (that would blow your mind) on hand and I only recall us ever running out once, for 2 days. Try it, its worth it if you are really in need. If you find constant issues with local fills, work with your doctor and inform them you are using mail order. This way they may assist you by giving you the prescription early enough to get it in time through the mail. (Keep in mind that a mail order pharmacy can also fill sooner than a local pharmacy to account for transit time.)
