2012 Oxycodone 30mg Shortage In Florida (Page 28) (Top voted first)

My spouse, who is in severe, chronic pain, has been a customer of Walgreens for many years. We live in Pinellas County, Florida. Everyday this week we have driven from Walgreen's to Walgreen's trying to fill his prescription for Roxicodone 30mg, to no avail. I cannot get any help from his regular pharmacy. I know that it's dangerous for them to tell a total stranger which store has them in stock, but I don't understand since they know him, why they can't call around or give us any assistance. I am at a total loss as to what to do & would appreciate any information that you could provide. It is so hard to see him in so much pain. Thank you.

The mail in order pharmacy is no longer sending no oxys-no percosets-no mophine out no more-these pill mills have screwed this entire state handing pain meds to every punk that walks in that dont know what the word work means-people that have not ever been in a car wreck or fall-just regular drug addicts that goes to a side road pill mill to get all different types of meds an the DEA an goverment let the sorry bassards stay in business an I am sure there paying them off to do it,There is no pill mill that should have ever been allowed to open in any state-people should have been going through there reg Doctor an if he thought they were more severe to have to be on higher doses then he was able to give after getting a real MRI then send them to a real lagit pain clinic,If that were the case Florida would not be in no shortage of Pain meds right now,and they would not have all these punks getting them to sale ot get high off of,lastnight my neighbors house got broken into an there out of town an usually I am up but after being up in chronic pain for 2 days I fell out an good thing for them cause they would have never walked out of his house I promise you that,I would love to see one of the little sob come in my house at night an hope my shepherd got to them before I shot them,because the way I look at it if your stupid enough to walk in my home or my neighbors house then your not going to have to worry about the cops taking you to jail if I see you first,I will make sure you will never break into another house around me thats for sure,it will be your last if I see you ,I am not aiming for your leg or arm your Dead believe that

Im there with you, your words exactly! Thought about alot of things, not all good, but why arent Big Pharm not fricking freaking out on the money they HAVE to be loosing, something is STINKIN!!! DEA paying them off or what?

I thought the new Walgreen law was to have a long acting (Morphine) with Oxy in order to get it filled. I thought that was a new law period in Florida.

LOL nope not a law. dont need round the clock meds with oxy for breakthru. thats what i was on for years until my office got shut down for being just on that. 24 round clock with breakthru-oxy30mg ir.
now doctors(most) are taking patients off oxycodone period switching them to dilaudid if your lucky...oxycontin(which sux by the way now with formula and good luck finding a strength over 20mg)
if not dilaudid, just getting 10mg oxycodone/325. period...until i can find new dr not scared to help his chronic patients that are legit...if u have insurance youll be fine and depending where you live...thats my problem is the county where im at sucks..

We need a drug class card! Bottom line they cant do this to you, they made this drug so addicting and then they take it away and watch you suffer?

We need to stand up and fight for a buying card. Have 3 doctors look into your condition and if your are proven to need this oxy script, you are giving a card to purchase them from only 5 major name Rx's. This is complete BS and this company got everyone hooked and now is leaving everyone that needs it out there hurting.

SO MANY PEOPLE DO NOT NEED THIS DRUGS AND THIS I GET! This is WHY we need a card to get this class drug. We need to force them to make a card legal for this class of drug so people who are on it cant be shorted. This is life threatening to have someone withdraw from this drug every month over and over again.

STAND UP AND FIGHT PEOPLE! GO OUT SIDE AND MAKE SOME NOISE. EVERYONE WITH THIS SAME ISSUE WILL STAND BEHIND YOU!!! POST BLOGS, SEND EMAILS LET EVERYONE YOU KNOW WITH MAJOR PAIN TO STAND UP AND FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHT TO LIVE YOUR LIFE OUTSIDE OF YOUR BED FOR DAYS OR WEEKS WHILE YOU DRIVE AROUND WASTING GAS!

nice idea and agree with stand up and fight.
BUT
unfortunatly the drug companies arent responsible...nor the pharmacies, nor the doctors...thats the problem cause noone has to be held accountable and with all the deaths there still not responsible and no lawsuits cause lawyers say theres no way to pin it on 1 person or business.
only other issue is goto 3 different doctors and there not going to say "oxycodone" period is all we can take(we-chronic pain) they can say oxycontin, morphine, dilaudid, percocet(oxycodone but weaker and w/tylenol)
know what i mean...they wont say just 1 drug for the remedy..but i like your way of thinking.

PANICPAIN....havent been here in awhile...and saw your post....thank God in heaven I didnt give up.....I knew that dilaudid,morphine,opana,...etc...would not work cause I TRIED IT ALL...the only thing that has worked is low-dose methadone...20 mgs a day and oxycodone30 btp actually relieved the pain without making me sick,groggy and miserable..PLEASE do yourself a BIG FAVOR ALL OF YOU and contact Donna Ratliff on facebook and get some real help! I kept doing the awful "pharmacy crawl" for months,didnt give up, and kept going to a Sweetbay who has a pharmacist who is all business,polite,kind,50ish,and she actually fills all my meds and holds them for me(the prescriptions).Finally all my meds are coming for refill on the same days after months and months of this.So....try the local grocery store...btw this pharmacist also sees me in there buying groceries...if that helps......also your local WALMART....the reason I KNOW this is I went there many many times and got refused...."we are out" come back every day....well I did and they get their big supply in on the FIRST of the month every month, altho,if u have never filled at Walmart,it can be touch n go.....also join Sams club....it is 40.00 for membership and the same thing holds true there....first of the month...CAMP OUT! I hate this for everybody who posts here who has to live with debilitating pain, but Ive said a million times "DO NOT LET ANYBODY DENY YOU THE RIGHT TO LIVE PAIN FREE"...........k

I have had problems at Walgreens in the past. there excuse was there was a shortage..but when I took my script to Krogers, they filled it and had not heard of any shortages. I take 30 mg oxycodone now and have had no problems getting them at Krogers

You know what i dont get is.....How do the mom an pop ALWAYS HAVE OXYCODONE?????? But your gonna pay 5 or more EACH!!!! Who can afford that!!???? The ones selling them , THATS WHO, other wise your buying maybe half of your scrip if your lucky like me, But i cant make it through a month if i take them right!!! HOW MESSED UP!! Im really done Playin!!!

pain & have been taking meds 4 about 18-20 yrs & i have a high tolerance & its a shame hat the people that abuse it screw it up 4 people who don't & really need it so if u could give me alittle more info I'd appreciate it...

done playin, where are you finding these mom and pops that have them?I need to buy enough to have for after surgery.I can't aford alot of them and not every month just a one time deal, but I can't find anyone who will fill,will only fill for their current patrons.And I will not go through surgery without them I know whats going to happen.The doctors tell you they'll take care of your pain...haha i'm not falling for that one.Thanks if you can help.

i give up...my only suggestion is move to another country since this problem seems like it only gets worse not better. i guess the govt just doesnt care about suffering people. anyone have any suggestions.
as others stated, even if you are lucky and get a rx, good luck filling it. and if you are lucky filling this month, good luck on filling them next month...ridiculous.
amazing the drug dealers on the street have them plentiful and simply love this situation as they know desperate people in pain will pay and they just profit more and more by the day...your right the only people able to afford them at that price are selling them...unless they are rich or have insurance that will pay for them. very depressing staring at the ceiling in pain day after day with the street and risking freedom is the only way to get relief. sad state of affairs and seems like nowhere to turn and no answers to fix this problem with us not being able to get meds legally.

I also have severe neck and lower back problems. I have a pain dr. who does a new procedure with radio wave. I had it done on my neck (in his office) and it was great and lasted about 9 months. I am going back to do it again for both neck and lower back. I still take meds, but at a lower dosage. Try to find a pain specialist who can do this procedure. Well worth it! I live in Hernando County, north of Tampa.

I just found a new pain doctor in Hudson an he is starting shots on wednesday to my lower back an then after going to do the Elec wave to both sides of my back,he said after the shots if I have any relief at all will tell him alot,My wife had them done an did nothing for her,they said they will only work for people whose back isnt that chronic,but after my surgery in feb this year I went to get up an walk an felt something tear in my back,an after I went to lay back down the pain shot straight from my low back down my right leg,he said he will try all that an hope it works if not I will have to have a fusion Done

@kaesue...if U don't mind me asking..what is your Drs name and is he board certified?? I have had over 70 injections in my back. Nerve block..faccet....stereiods....to the point I started loosing my hair. Surgery is the ONLY option left which is a ALIF. Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion in which a cage will be inserted to replace my L5-S1. My spine is a mess...also have horrible nerve damage in my right side along with the curveture of my neck being the opposite way. It causes severe migraines and also nerve damage in both my arms and hands. Looking for a DR that will HELP me...not just feed me medicaton..Thanks..Lisa

Inagony, thanks for your wanting to help. I've been using walmart for 10+ yrs and they're very nice and know me, but tell me they don't carry roxycodone. I also shop in publix, and they don't carry them either. Walgreens really screwed most of us, as that's who I used since first going to pain mgt. I'm now using a small pharmacy, and am worried he'll stop filling for me when I go back next week. Already commented how it doesn't "look good" I'm only filling 1 short acting rx. I told him I will use him for my muscle relaxers I need a new rx for next wk. I explained I get my lyrica and other meds thru the V.A. for free. It's bad enough I can no longer get the one med that doesn't make me so ill like this opana does. Now, bc I go every 28 days, next month I don't know how I'll make it thru the month having to pay dr and 97.00 for opana twice in October. Living on a disability check and my husband is also very sick, I'm ready to call it quits. Between the pain, vomiting and feeling sick and bedridden, I'm running out of hope. To add to that, my husband is angry bc he's sick, and calls me an addict. I do everything for this man, cook clean, laundry, shop. Allwhile I'm dying inside. I belong to Donna's group, it's hard for me to be proactive there, as it's my dirty secret I'm in chronic pain. The few that do know, say just be stronger and stop being so weak. It hurts me mentally, and I've had a panic disorder for 20 yrs and have depression. I know there are ppl worse of than I, so I pray for all of you. My life has really unraveled since may, when I could no longer fill my roxycodone rx. Now life is almost unbearable. God bless.you all.

my family lives in hernando county and says its terrible there trying to find a pain management doctor. i am disabled awaiting my ssi and medicaid so i only have blue cross...limited benefits no major medical so it wont cover injections, radio waves, etc.
besides i had injections before and thats why i had to have a 4 level fusion in my neck. roxicodone is the only drug that for 12 years has worked well for me(includes old formula oxycontin) and its affordable. and dilaudid works also but not as well. can you give me the dr name in hernando county so i can make an appt. and at least call to see how much hes charging per visit. my insurance only covers 50$ per visit so really need a doctor.
anyone know a doctor in indian river county or st. lucie county. thanx.

I had the same problem with walgreens e been @ the same pharmacy tor 14 years. Been on oxycodone for 5 Years. The jerk new pharmacist told me he would only fill it next time to people with cancer! That was 3 months ago. I tried hydrocodone, he would fill it but only if I picked up all my mess that day ( I'm on 9 meds. High bo & ibs) I cant afford to pick them all op @ same time. I ennded up calling corporate office. He was wrong on both counts. I am so over walgreens treating me like I'm buying iligal drugs. I stopped in a mom & pop type pharmacy & wow! They actually treated me with respect, told me about. Other drugs to try until they are able to get oxy in. I ended up being alergic to hydrmophone, trying morphine now & I hats it, feel stoned & sleepy w/o hardly any pain relief. Moral of the story ...... boycott walgreens, find a small privately owned pharmacy. They actually care about you, want your business, & you are not just a number. I love this new pharmacy even though it's still hard to get the mess that work for me.

This is my 10th day driving around to multiple pharmacies to fill my oxycodone. I've decided that each time a pharmacist denies my prescription with trash talking lies, I going to use their NAME!! Each time anyone Googles their name others will know who they really are. So, Use their NAMES, they will stop the bulls&%t.
