15 Years On 100meq Of Fentanyl Patch Use

I have chronic back pain from a major car accident . I have been on the fentanyl. Patch 100 mcq every other day. Yesterday I went to my dr and she told me about some new law our wonderful government has imposed. According to her fentanyl, subutex, and methadone are all in this list of drugs that the government has decided to attack. There is some number associated with each drug and then it's multiplied. By the mg of what ever medicine you are taking if the number is over 200 it puts you in a red class and that is a NoNo. I have been on this for 15 years and my dr just totally refused to write another script staring that she would be in trouble with the government if she continued to write it. She did offer a 2 week supply of a much lesser medication and said I could go I a pain clinic but that the pain clinic probsbly wouldn't write my scripts. Also I was taking 45mg of oxy for the break through pain and now I have NOTHIN. I am totally. Freaking out this is so unfair the withdrawl will be awful not to mention the pain I am already experiencing . Is this totally true? Can our government dictate to our drs what they can and can't write now? So much for land of the free. Help I am totally at a loss and flipping out here

Hope you're doing better than me . My Pain Management doctor was arrested with no back up doc . I went cold turkey off fentanyl 100 mg - Soma - 10 mg Opana . A real ruff ride . Been a year now and seems like yesterday . Sick and in pain . I went in today to another pain center . I got 12 mg fentanyl patch and 4 10 mg perc's . Hope that helps some . I don't feel like I have long to live . 51 years old . I have been on narcotics since I was 32 . 11 yrs on fentanyl .
Hello, DJ! How are you doing? I am very sorry about the problem you've been having.
However yes, it is true. If you need such medications on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see a pain management specialist. These new regulations were put in place last year, with the only exceptions being for terminal patients, such as those with stage 4 cancer.
Have you tried pain management, before?
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
