15 Mg Oxycodone Only At Night Withdrawal

I have taken up to 15 mg of oxycodone a night just to take the edge off. I want to be off them completely. I have went 5 days with 15 mg before and withdrawals werent that bad. I have taken one quarter of a methdaone wafer for the last 2 days. I know it takes 3-7 days to withdrawal. does this mean I am almost clean?

Hi Samantha,

From my perspective it sounds like your strong intention to be off oxycodone will help make it an easier mental transition towards going with out them... but not having gone through this myself, I wouldn't know what amount of possible physical withdrawal symptoms to anticipate. Based on your description they theoretically shouldn't be any worse or drawn out than what you said you had experienced before. However I do think it would be wise to speak with a doctor about this as well since the duration and severity of withdrawal may be influenced by a number of other factors.

Does anyone else have advice from personal experience?

I've been taking 8 (on average) 5/325 percocets a day for about 16 months for back and neck pain. Then Was diagnosed with lung cancer and had a lung removed. So needless I'm a walking pain. I hate the way I feel on these pills now. At first they were a miracle but now not so much. I've been offered morphine but it didn't agree with me. I've decided I just want to be off this pain med merry-go-round. Here's my question. I have 105 pills left from my current prescription. Is that enough to taper off w/o too much withdrawals? I have monthly refills but i don't want them anymore. I'd like to be off these before my next refill or this will just start over. Could someone do the math and come up with a tapering schedule or suggestions? Today I'm trying to take only 7 and believe it or not it's not feeling good. I'm having cravings and irritability. I've never had that before. That's only taking just 1 less. I can't imagine what 6 then 5 etc would be like. Thank you for your help.

I'm detoxing off of methadone which I've been off for around 14 days and I started taking a quarter of a 30 milligram oxycodone which has made me feel better with the RLS and feel that my whole body needs to move but it's getting better. I'm not sure how long the methadone pill lasts but I promise you that you can get through it. So good luck and stay strong.

Instead of reducing the amount you're taking, try spacing them out first. If you're taking one every 4 hours try taking them every 5 hours. Or if that's not doable try every 4 & 1/2 hours. When you can tolerate that, increase the time between doses. Everyone is different in what they can tolerate so you may have to refill again but if you're determined you should be able to do it.
