Switch manufacturers, that's what the problem is I have Fibromyalgia also and a couple other conditions and Lyrica helps me alot!
Re: Labrat (# 7)
Me too, and my legs swelled up like an elephant's. I quit taking Cymbalta, Lyrica, Tizanidine along with morphine and prednisone, all because I was begging for more Oxycodone. Then, I discovered that when combining oxy with morphine, I was creating more pain reactions. I quit them all except morphine and prednisone, and got my brain back; and I felt better. My kids said I was babbling nonsense! Who wouldn't with all that in my system. I was up until 6 am scrubbing my bathroom! Just give me oxycodone and cut the crap!
Hi, don't know how old this thread is, but replying for others too. I too was on these meds. They actually cause more pain by taking both. Get off the Oxycodone and you will feel the remission of some of the pain. The Morphine will keep you from withdrawals.
I have Fibromyalgia, 10 fractured vertebrae, buckling caving rib cage (compressed inner organs:stomach, lungs, gut, etc.) Autoimmune RA Takayasu Arteritis, and so I imagine what you are enduring.
Although with the Morphine I had abscessed molar, and didn't even know it! Prednisone rotted my teeth and my back and ribs. All to help with Autoimmune disease. Which is worse?
With pain it can work in different ways for different people. For one it seems your opiate dose is too low for you, you may not wish to go higher but in my case quality of life comes before dependency. You can also try Lyrica (Pregablin) as suggested... or the cheaper Neurontin (Gabapentin) which is then metabolised into Pregablin. You may also ask if Naxproxen (an NSAID) much like ibuprofen but stronger may be suitable. Paracetamol (acetimophen) is a good pain killer but I always recommend not taking anywhere near the maximum level for long periods as it has toxicity. All of these can be used in conjunction with each other. But despite all the massive publicity against opiates when used properly they are a highly prized and effective pain killer. Dihydrocodeine is also an option, plain codeine will certainly not be strong enough for you. If your doctor is good he will trial you till you find relief. I myself am currently researching rotation of opiates to negate tolerance and am having more success than anticipated.
If your ins won't do lyrica try gabapentin, the generic. I have fibro and had neck fusion surgery and i take 2400mg of gabapentin and 5 percocet 10/325 everyday for my pain management. It works for the most part. I have another fusion surgery coming and my pain doc says they'll prob increase the strength at that time. But I won't be without my gabapentin. That stuff is a life saver. Not to mention a ton cheaper than pregablin (lyrica).
Lyrica, gave me disgusting, murderous, bloody nightmares. No joke. I was in my 50s at the time so it wasnt because of being young. Stopped immediately when i stopped taking it.
If you want some pain relief try marijuana or taking some arnica and rubbing that on you back.
If the Percocet work, and the new Oxycodone pill does not, just buy a bottle of tylenol to take along with the new pill. When you mix a 500mg tylenol with the new pill, you now will be taking a Percocet which may be slightly stronger than the original Percocet you we're originally taking. Good luck.
Opiates will work if the dose is high enough.... but odds are you should just try lyrica... do a little googling but mscontin the oral bio availability is just about nothing... so relief is low if any... 10mg oxy if you have any tolerance is laughable... but the lyrica suggestion is from many people i know that to get relief were on high enough doses they were zombies on opana or lyrica and they were normal..... i couldn't tolerate the side effects of lyrica so it wasnt a good choice for me.... so i deal with it and i have oxy ir and er that helps
Who is a good dr.to go see for fibromyalgia & disc problems? Severe back pain along w/ distonia?
i am on lyrica 100mg and ocycodone 10/325 for my fibromyalgia been on it for awhile now and both of them together works good
If your doctor approves it, you may be able to take Acetaminophen/Tylenol with it to help get back some of the prior pain relief that you had, since it potentiates the action of the narcotics.
Have you contacted them about the problem, yet?
How long have you been taking the new medications?
