The FDA requires all manufacturers to use unique markings on their tablets to ensure that they can be identified, in case of emergency. For instance, if I type this marking into the database, I can quickly discover that this tablet is manufactured by Malinckrodt Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 5mgs of Oxycodone in a regular release formulation.

The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.

Picture the following scenario... someone calls emergency services, the EMTs arrive to find an unconscious person with various unknown pills strewn about... if they can't discover what they took, they can't properly treat the person, in hopes of counteracting the effects and hopefully saving their life.

Or..... during manufacturing some pills were tainted with some dangerous substance, or it is discovered that the active ingredient wasn't added.... one would need to be able to discover who manufactured them, in order to rectify the problem.

Is there anything else I can help with?
