I have had moderate to severe back pain for several years now, and have been prescribed meloxicam, vicodin, zanaflex, flexoril, and percocet, just to nam a few. i ignored the pain for several years, but it got to the point where i had to get it checked out. after getting an mri, they discovered several problems with my lower back. degenerative bone disease, slipped discs, arthritis, etc. Most of this is due to the nature of my work, and a couple of motorcycle wrecks. I have been prescribed oxycodone 5 mg. IMM REL capsules to be taken 2-3 every 4 hrs. for shingles pain. I have never taken this before, however I have chronic pain due to a right hip injury 6 years ago and normally take fiorinal #3 for that and also migraine headaches. difference between hydrocodone and hydrocloride ## I am not certain exactly what you mean by this. Hydrocodone Bitarate is a narcotic analgesic, used to treat severe pain. A hydrochloride just signifies that something is a salt of that particular substance, such as Pyridine Hydrochloride. So, medically they are unrelated. I used to drink a lot of alcohol. I've been on oxycontin 80s for yrs. A new pain mgmt doctor says I'm taking too much and has also refused to prescribe ativan 1mg 2 per day. For you, that will likely also mean 2 specialist, one for pain management and the other a Psychiatrist for the Xanax. First off, I took the prescribed dose and it literally did nothing. I do suffer from muscle spasms and it didn't even help that. But the crazy thing is I'm on Valium and was asking my doctor to switch back to xanax since I was previously on that and the Valium just isn't working anymore. He then writes me for Zanaflex instead! I need a new doctor in the Phoenix area... I can't deal with this constant trial and error of meds paying out of pocket for crap medications when I know what works best for me. My doc prescribed 15mg Amrix for a "severely herniated disc. This is the only new thing I'm taking. Today was 3rd day & my stomach hurts extremely badly. I took a Prilosec, Zantac 150mg & TUMS, to no avail. Stomach pain is listed in the Package Insert. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks! ## Sorry to hear about your situation. I've been taking tizanadine /zanaflex for 10 years at 36 mgs per day. That's the max dose allowed. I had daily migraines for 3 years along with spine and neck djd and insomnia. It helps with all of this. I lost my pcp a couple of months ago and do not want get get off of this medication. It allows me to live without pain and function. My new pcp wants me off and when I cut down, I have horrible panic attacks and severe high blood pressure. Any suggestions? I have to find a new pcp but don't want to dr hop. I also have to function daily. I also live with severe anxiety and panic attacks and my psychiatrist has me on Xanax. Tapering down from zanaflex causes major anxiety. I was rear ended by a Semi 15 years ago and have various back problems that are only getting worse. I have SI joint dysfunction, degenerative disc disease, facet something, sciatica bulging disks, and the list goes on. I have already had 6 lumbar shots, 2 SI shots and 1 epidural in the last 3 months. NONE of them have helped and some have made me worse. I have been on Norco 10's for 5 years. They now do nothing for my pain. I need something stronger and I do not know how to approach with my pain management Dr on my next visit? My Dr. took my Zanax away because I am on pain killers. I desperately need them back. I walked out of my job last week because my anxiety and depression were so bad. If I would have had a Zanax I wouldn't have done that. I now have nothing to take for anxiety and I am not doing well. ## If the doctor prescribing you Xanax is not a Psychiatrist, you need to see one. In almost all cases when the doctor prescribing a benzodiazepine is a Psychiatrist and the doctor prescribing the pain killers is a pain management doctor there is not a problem. ## I have a problem with that though BL. Most Psychiatrists charge rate of $500 or more and don't take Insurance.
