I am waiting to pick up this topical compound of Keta-Clon-Gaba prescribed today for chronic nerve/muscle spasms. What exactly are the drug names of each of the compounds? I need to be sure what goes in the bloodstream, being recently diagnosed with stage 3b kidney disease. Thanks. ## Ketaprofen, (a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory), Clonazepam (a benzodiazepine) and Gabapentin (an anticonvulsant that is also used to treat certain types of nerve pain.) In most cases, you will not absorb enough to have any significant effect on your kidneys, or other internal organs, but it never hurts to double check to be safe. The FDA lists the typical side effects of topical use as possibly including skin redness, flaking, and irritation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you for your qu...

I have found all of the elements in this topical cream (dicl bacl gaba lido doxe) EXCEPT for "DOXE". Can someone explain the abbreviation of this component and any side-effects? ## Hi twotrees, There are a couple medications that come to mind when I see the abbreviation "Doxe": [1] Doxycycline - An antibiotic, topically used to treat moderate to severe inflammatory acne, or mild inflammatory acne. [2] Doxepin - When applied topically, it can reduce itching caused by atopic dermatitis, lichen simplex chronicus, and other skin diseases. I'm personally leaning towards "Doxepin" due to how close the abbreviation is to the actual drug name and it's topical use-case. If it is Doxepin, you can view a list of possible side effects in the link below: ncbi.nlm.nih....

I'm curious as to what exactly this cream is used for and the side effects of use? ## This looks like a compounded cream, each word being an abbreviation for the full ingredient. I am assuming that each one corresponds to the following (though I can't guarantee that I am 100% accurate): CARB = Carbamazepine, anticonvulsant used in treating neuropathic pain CYCL = Cyclobenzaprine, a muscle relaxer DICL = Diclofenac, a non-steroidal anti inflammatory (NSAID) GABA = Gabapentin, anticonvulsant used in treating neuropathic pain LIDO = Lidocaine, a local anesthetic PRIL= Prilocaine, a local anesthetic So it seems that this is a pain relieving cream, and a strong one at that. I would recommend checking each drug for its possible side effects. May I ask where you got it from? Was it com...

I HAVE NEUROPATHY. I HAVE SEVER BURNING IN MT FEET AND SOMETIMES HANDS, I HAVE THE TINGLING ALSO IN BOTH. MY DOCTOR HAS ME ON GABA 600MGS 3 TIMES A DAY BUT IT DOESN'T SEEM TO BE HLPING WITH THE BURNING. COULD YOU PLEASR TELL ME IF THIS WOULD WORK. ## Hello, Terri! How are you? I am very sorry about the problem that you're having. Has your doctor prescribed this? It is just various medications compounded into a cream to be used topically, but most of them have not ever been proven to be effective topically. And since you are already taking oral Gabapentin, you would need to check with your doctor before using this, since it also contains it. How long have you been taking it? It is not an actual analgesic, so it will take 4 to 6 weeks to reach its full level of efficacy in your bo...

Does the cream actually go through your bloodstream? I have taken Gabapentin in the past which started out okay for a while, but then I had an issue with it & went off the pill form of the medication. I was told since it doesn't go through your bloodstream that the cream should be fine. Please let me know what you think and also if you know whether it's true about it not going into your bloodstream and causing any of the same side effects as the pill form. Thank you. ## Hello, Diane! How are you? A little does, but just trace amounts, not any significant amount that should cause side effects or reactions. Most of the reactions to these topical creams are limited to skin irritation wherever you applied it. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you, that helped me q...

What is the compound DICL/GABA/LIDO/PRIL? ## As you mentioned, this sounds like a compounded medication. Based on the abbreviations, the active ingredients are most likely: DICLOFENAC - A nonsteroidal anti inflammatory (NSAID) / pain reliever GABAPENTIN - A medication which can be used to treat neuropathic pain LIDOCAINE - A local anesthetic used to numb tissue in a specific area PRILOCAINE - Also a local anesthetic, often combined with Lidocaine So, it seems like it would be a topical medication, is that correct? May I ask what this was prescribed for, and whether it has been effective? ## I put the cream on my ankle and noticed a tightening of the skin ever since I started using it. The soles of my feet also feel really tight. Are these known side effects? ## SEEKING A COMPOUND SALVE ...

5f-diclo3/gaba6/lido2prilo2% ## Hello, I am a little confused about what medications you are describing, so I will try to offer as much accurate information as possible. In regards to the title of your post, are you referring to Diclofenac topical 3% and Gabapentin topical 6%? If so, my research tells me that Diclofenac 3% topical gel is used to treat actinic keratosis (flat, scaly growths on the skin caused by too much sun exposure). Tell your doctor if you experience any of the following side effects, or if they become severe: -redness, itching, peeling or dry skin, irritation, swelling, or rash at the area where you applied the medication -pain, burning, numbness, or tingling of the treated skin -muscle, joint, or back pain -headache Some side effects may be serious. My cream has lido prilo nabum gaba and like to know what all they are ## Hello, Nicky! How are you? This cream is used for topical pain relief and those abbreviations stand for Lidocaine, Prilocaine, Nabumetone and Gabapentin. The first two are topical anesthetics, Nabumetone is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and the Gabapentin is used to treat nerve pain. The FDA lists the typical side effects of these combinations as possibly including skin redness, irritation, dryness and rash. Is there anything else I can help with?

What happens if this stuff is swallowed? What could this cause? How would it make someone feel if they were to swallow it? ## Hi Jenny, The product combination you're referring to is reported to be a topical pain-relieving cream for external use only. If it is accidentally swallowed, I would encourage you to contact poison control immediately as well as the prescribing doctor for any safety advice. The "American Association of Poison Control Centers" is available 24/7 at: 1-800-222-1222 RE: "How would it make someone feel if they were to swallow it?" - I'm sure it would make that person feel very ill and depending on the quantity may be fatal, but I would not recommend swallowing it to find out. Please be safe and be sure to keep your medication locked away in a ...

It's a prescription from my gyn dr.. my insurance doesn't cover this drug since it is a compounded medication and experimental cream. for my condition I would like to get cost effective pricing. Cyclo/GABA/lido/capsa 10:5:5:0.025% gel. My second gel/ cream is Fl/lid/men/cam 25/5/5/1% PLO. This is a new medication for my neck. How does this medication work and what are possible side affects? ## @machilinda, I've attempted to decipher the abbreviations you mentioned for each individual cream/ointment, but am only finding details on the first one "Cyclo/GABA/lido/capsa" (which I believe translates to cyclobenzaprine + gabapentin + lidocaine + capsaicin). Is there anyway you can confirm if this is true as well as verifying the full spelled out name of the other ointment? Information I gathered on this first cream indicates that it's used topically for pain management. However, concerning possible side effects, there are honestly too many to list outside of the typic...

Can this topical cream affect your sleeping cycle??? Can it make you sleep a heavy sleep? ## Hello, JoAnn! How are you? No, it shouldn't. The medications may cause drowsiness as side effects, but you only absorb a little of them, when using them topically, so it shouldn't cause a deep, heavy sleep. For that to happen, someone would basically have to almost bathe in it. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thanks so much. I started taking Gabapentin and about 8 days later I broke out in red sores and pimples on my entire back and shoulders. I wondered if anyone has reported such a reaction to this drug. I am now experiencing my throat swollen, red, and scratchy with white pockets. I did stop taking the medication and the skin is slowly clearing but the throat is still bad. Please offer some education back gound on similar concerns to date. Thanks J ## It really doesn't sound like something that was caused by the Gabapentin, especially what you're describing about your throat, that sounds more like a strep infection and the same could be true of the sores and pimples you had on your back, since it can also infect the skin topically.
