I'm all out of Amoxicillin and have Pota-V-kin Penicillin V 800000U... Does this cure a UTI? Please help. ## Hi Juno, A study by the US National Institute of Health smugly describes Penicillin's efficacy against UTI's as being a rational choice. Source: NIH / PMC477226 However my research leads me to believe that Penicillin's efficacy may also be dependent upon the strain of bacteria that's causing the infection. Therefore it may be a good idea to have your doctor analyze the bacteria through whatever diagnostics are deemed appropriate, in order to ensure that taking Penicillin is indeed the best approach. If you're unable to get in to see a doctor, perhaps a local pharmacist could at least advise you on Penicillin's standard adult dosing protocols for a UTI....

what is purpose of acido nalidixico fenazopiridina ## The active ingredients are 500mgs of Nalidixic Acid and 50mgs of Phenazopyridine. It is commonly used to treat urinary tract infections, because some bacteria that cause them are sensitive to the acid and will be killed by it. That said, however, it is not an antibiotic, so it may help clear it up, but there is also a chance that it won't. The main side effect warned about when taking this is photo-sensitivity. Below is a link to Natrapharm who makes this product, Natravox, generic name Co-amoxiclav, and posts the details about the product. It's very good detail. I've been prescribed the product for lung infection and UTI. Within 24 hours results were seen but do the 7 days as with all antibiotics if you don't have any side effects.. I didn't have any side effects/issues and all things considered I'd prefer this product as my antibiotic. It's expensive compared to generics so consider the generic if you can get it in your area of the world. So it's sodium amoxicilin and the clav acid. Hi. Has anyone else experienced visual disturbances on this med? First day I started taking them I felt pressure in my head... felt a bit strange but was happy I could cope with the effects. Second day about 1 hour after taking my first tablet I noticed I wasn't able to see all of someone's face. It progressed into the whole of my left side of my vision being distorted, similar to how it is with a migraine, but much worse. I've since stopped taking them and been given penicillin for my uti. I've searched all over the internet but can't find a similar story. Any insight much appreciated. ## The FDA does warn that this medication has been known to cause optic neuritis as a side effect, which is an inflammation of the optic nerve, so the could be what caused the issue. ...
