Can I Cut The Prednisone Pill In Half

I was recently put on a high dosage (50mg) of Prednisone a day. I was to stay on this dosage for three days, then cut it in half for three days, and then repeat until I was, by the fifteenth day, completely off the medication. Unfortunately, when my doctor prescribed me Prednisone, she momentarily forgot about psych history. On the fifth day of me taking Prednisone, I had a psychosis episode, and came to the realisation that my chaotic moods, and the sudden extreme bouts of depression and lack of concentration, had been a side effect of the medication. After speaking with my doctor, we dropped the dosage right down to 5mg and I was on that for four days before stopping completely, which was five days ago. I started on prednisone for extreme knee and hip pain. Can't sleep. No relief yet. Can I take hydrocodone? I took Tylenol several hours ago with no relief from that either. ## I was put on Celebrex, 200 mg, for severe hip pain and arthritis. Can't mix Advil (only Tylenol) which does nothing for me. Tried cutting a 5/300 Vicodin in half and that sure helped take the edge off. Am going to discuss further with my neuromuscularskeletal doctor. Trying to avoid an epidural shot and surgery. I was prescribed 20 mg of prednisone for my allergies. This is my first day with the pill because yesterday I got a steroid shot . But since yesterday I can't sleep and my stomach hurts. I need to take this because I can't take any antihistamine because I'm going to be tested for allergy. But I feel table ! I feel my right hand week and pressure in my chest. I had been given a 30 mg prednisone which should be cut in half and be taken for twice a day. But I accidentally took the whole tablet in the morning already. So it's like i took the other dose(the next half one) in advance for the day. I'm not sure if still it would just be okay or not, or if it wouldn't be effective anymore after that ## Oh yes, there should not be any problem, unless your doctor deems otherwise. The only reason they are usually split up throughout the day is to minimize the side effects, but they normally can be taken all at once, if needed. The NIH reports the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, nervousness, and insomnia. Is there anything else I can help with?
