David, while you tell this to others quite a bit, and it is prudent advice, are you aware that 1 visit with the psychiatrist can cost $500 plus, and many don't take insurance?

I can't say this applies to everyone, but if you suffer from anxiety and need a medication like Xanax, I think your best bet is to see a psychiatrist rather than a regular MD. Reason being is that they tend to be better trained & have a better understanding in the types of medications that handle these problems; while many general physicians are reluctant to even prescribe controlled substances due to abuse and the heavy regulations that they have to abide by from the government.

One other thing I'd like to suggest is meditation. There are many different ways to calm your mind/body, but meditation is recognized as a one of the best approaches to finding long term relief from mental disturbances, since it's something you can learn to do on the spur of the moment once you practice enough.

In my opinion, it's really all about maintaining peace of mind even when everything around you is seemingly going wrong. Observing your reaction to the "stimuli", situation, or circumstances at hand, is a good first step to finding that calmness.

I hope this helps!
