I'm prescribed xanax. My doctor gave me a urine test today and said I was positive for opiates. He's sending it to a lab and he said if it was under 50% that I would be ok. What does that mean, the 50%? - Filed in Xanax

Charli,, this is a little late, but hopefully it still may help u understand. Sending it to a lab is better for you. (If you haven't used anything other than ur prescription of xanax.) A lab WILL be able to tell what you've take,, if he ordered a complete urinalisis. It will show exactly what meds&/type you have taken in about the last 30-60days. If he ordered a regular (cheap/quick) test... It will only show opiate.. However, often foods we eat, such as poppy seed foods can create a false positive. So a complete lab test is always best. It will actually decipher between the two. I had that happen 2-years ago after eating a DD Poppy seed bagel, whilst waiting for my test!! Lol. Needless to sa,, the test saved me! (I don't eat those anymore.) Lol. .......Any who, although a late return. I hope this info helps u understand a little better, the process.
Good luck to yo,, and GOD BLESS.
