As a New Yorker I dont understand how I have heard Walgreens 100's of times on this Blog, is there an issue with mom and pop pharmacies? A Shortage of sorts? I personally dislike CVS, WALGREENS, etc..and just need to understand whats REALLY going on in Florida state. They should issue Medical Tags/Licenses to the real people in Pain across this country. They are already tying all the hands of doctors, pharmacies, and the pharmaceutical companies and most of all US! As a prelaw student you all should be questioning whether or not these "oxycodone overdoses" are legit ( I have done some homework and it turns out that anyone qualified to sign a death cert like a responding officer who happens to come upon an empty bottle of ocycodone can make this assumption without an autopsy, therefore how can they legitimize claiming excessive death tolls do to over prescribing, when although their job title claims they are qualified authorities, ARE THEY REALLY?)within a civil lawsuit enviroment....would this country stop meds for a patient with high blood pressure? Seizure disorder? Insulin? I know you get this point. So, is it in fact Walgreens who should be sued? We need the ACLU to recognize this as a violation of our Civil Rights, based on unfounded proof. I know this doesnt help those in immediate need of your meds , But things do Not get done if we Do not do them together, New York is in danger of pretty much the same situation and real soon,as 98 arrests took place a month or so ago, Our Governor released a keeping New Yorkers Safe from Prescription Pills..........truth is some little s*** that has family members in higher places bought or retreived these types of meds ILLEGALLY! OVERDOSED! DROPPED DEAD! and now they are taking a stand against those whom DO NOT DIVERT THEIR MEDS, are IN TRUE PAIN, and out of utter laziness decide to attack ALL OF US, why not the little S***s Freinds??? They know how to obtain them JUST SWELL! We are handling this wrong, im not suggesting that i Know the fool proof right way but we need the Pharmaceutical companies on our side!! They have a Right to Freely Market their Products and my DR. has the ability to diagnose and treat Me as He/She sees medically FIT! ..........and I have the right to change (NOT SHOP) for the Correct Dr. that can and will understand and treat my pain and NOT JUDGE US while doing so! - Filed in Oxycodone

The problem in FLA with the mom and pops is simply cost. Most charge at least $5/each while Walgreens and the chains are around a $1 or less with discount cards. Most of the mom and pops won't take new customers and if they do they won't accept insurance only cash. The issue about the overdoses is hugely inflated because almost every single one is a mis of drugs oxycodone, xanax or valium or methadone or soma sometimes with alcohol and other street drugs or stimulants mixed in. That is what causes the overdoses I am sure there are a few that were oxycodone alone but the vast majority are mixing drugs.
