Half-life here means that, say, 20 hours after ingesting Tussicaps, half of the active amount will be gone. This doesn't mean that 20 hours later, though, the other half will be gone. At that point half of the remainder will be gone, then another half after the same time interval, and so on, until the drug is eliminated from the body. I've heard that it can take about 5 half-lives for a drug to be completely out of your system. So depending on the dose taken, I'd imagine that it could be a couple weeks...
