I was given this for fluid retention, I already take procardia for blood pressure, should I be taking the hydrochlorot or another water pill? ## no, dont take another water pill it may interact to your other med.. try to talk to your doctor first.. ## HI, Sat! How are you? Any diuretic, aka water pill, is going to affect your blood pressure, not just this one. Learn more Hydrochlorothiazide details here. They are commonly used to help lower high blood pressure. If your doctor has prescribed both, then you should just be aware of it, so you can keep an eye on your blood pressure in case it goes too low and they should be monitoring you regularly. Are there any other questions or concerns?

I am having side effects (joint pain, jaw pain and dizziness) from procardia. Are there any substitutions with less side effects? ## Procardia contains the active ingredient Nifedipine, which is a calcium channel blockers that's most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions and these are well known to cause these types of side effects in some people. And yes, there are many other similar medications on the market that treat the same conditions, but in other classes that might work better for you. Have you talked to your doctor about it? They should be able to prescribed a different medication that won't cause these types of symptoms. One that's known to cause fewer side effects, in most people is the drug Carvedilol: I took it for over a year...
