I am taking Melatonin 3mg every day for the last 3 months. I am very comfortable with this drug and getting good sleep. I wish to continue this drug for a period of one year or life long. But can I take this like that? Any harm will be there? I did not get satisfactory reply from my doctor. I request any of our participants who is taking this drug since a long time can advise me please.

I have been taking 0.5 mg of Melatonin every night for several years. Once in a while I will miss taking it for a night and am still able to fall asleep without issue if I am tired enough. So in my experience it has not been habit forming. But I am taking a lower dose than you are.
