It is something that builds up in your system to a therapeutic level. You don't just take it once in a while, but need to have the right amount every day! They try not to use it for depression as much these days but I know they still do. Especially, if all else fails.

Nothing to play with if it isn't prescribed for you, this is a very potent drug, and its usage must be very closely monitored by a doctor. They have to maintain it in a very delicate balance that requires regular urine or blood testing to make sure there isn't too much or too little, and if you do not suffer a condition requiring this med, you will create serious trouble for yourself if you take it.

I know some people like to abuse it, but I can never understand why, the dangers and side-effects are just far too hazardous.

So if you found this in the ownership of someone who isn't supposed to have it, please sit down and have a serious talk with them about the hazards.

I remember when my husband was in the hospital for his depression, and they had two people there on Depakote, before they gave them each days dose, they had to check their urine and see how much was in there, then they had to adjust each dose accordingly.

This is Depakote 250mg, extended release. It is typically used for seizure disorders though has been used for behavior problems, some anti-psychotic issues, and anxiety issues. Side effects include severe drowsiness, dizziness, heaadache, stomach cramping.
