Hi I have been on BCP now for approximately 25 years. I live in the state of Florida and have always gotten my prescription written for 1 full year. I just went and saw a doctor that I had never seen before because I was out of my pills and needed to see a doctor quickly so I didn't lapse in my pills. I was due for my annual exam, so I had that done, afterwards realizing that he only refilled my prescription for 6 months. I tried to get him to make it for 12 months, because I had my annual exam. He stated that in Florida, the rule is I have to see him for an office visit every 6 months for BC prescription refills. I have never heard of this ever in all my years of being on birth control. Plus insurance only covers 1 annual/wellness exam per year. Does anyone know if this is a new rule or proof on FL DOH website where I can prove that I should get a 1 year prescription if this is not true? Any help would be appreciated. - Filed in Birth Control / Contraceptive

I definitely want to follow this conversation for replies I don't know if I have to leave a reply to be included. Hope you don't see this in hopes of a solution. If you do I'm sorry. I want to say however that this does not sound correct. I too always, and mind you this is back in the day, but I always got it from one year in an annual exam is annually done so... Interested to hear what people have to say.
