Xarelto Fluid Retention (Page 10)

I had to take Xarelto due to two sinus venous thrombosis in my head. 8 weeks of heparin injections showed no side effects. But with the first day of taking Xarelto my body reacted by retaining water. Within the first three weeks I gained 24.46 lb hill exercising 5 times a week and eating as I always did. After retaining more and more water I stopped taking it after three months. I started with a weight of 120 lb at a height of 5''8 and now I weigh 157 lb. I have to ad that I started taking it in the middle of March and stopped taking it at the end of June. I was not able to loose any water/weight. I eat less than I always did before even while I exercise. All doctors couldn't find the one thing that changed through Xarelto. Has anybody ever experienced something like this while taking Xarelto??

Yes I have had the same effect as well as hemorrhaging and nearly died and had to have several blood transfusions. I have been severely damaged by xarelto including internal bleeding they can’t seem to find and more. The weight gain is the same 45 lbs and I eat like a bird. Only thing I find that helps with inflammation is extreme cold from cryotherapy.

I am wondering if you and others had MRI with dye test at time of discovering clots etc

Hi. No I never had the dye test. I worked out 1 1/2 daily and always ate healthy. My right calf hurt and was larger than the other. Walked around like that for 6mo's thinking I had a pulled muscle. The chiropractor noticed and had me get an ultrasound. Had a dvt from groin down to calf. Then found out I carry the Leiden Factor 5 blood clotting gene. Was on birth control pills at the time. Also took 4 long car trips. I started liver cleanse pills, and try to eat a Paleo diet (80% of the time) lifestyle. My legs, stomach, and breasts still feel heavy, but I do notice an improvement every 6 months. I pray it continues.

Get natural wellness ultra thistle. My liver test came back excellent! Are you also having spikes in blood pressure? I also found that eating nonfat other than avacado, olive oil, etc., (no diary fat or meat fats or trans fats, I did just tuna for a month), I lost 20lbs, but as soon as I had dairy or sugar or meat bang back on over night I found this causes extreme visceral fat and it causes my stomach to swell so much that it stretched the ligament in middle of my torso, so if i lay flat then lift my head off the floor as if to do a sit up my stomach comes to a point which normally is 1/2” to 1”, but mine is currently 3”.

Thanks. Everyone in my house started intermittent fasting. I think it may help our problems. I remember some on this thread saying fasting helped them get back to normal. You pick an 8 hour window (mine is 10:30 to 6:30) and that's when you eat. If you have the luxury, it's great to exercise right before your first meal. We'll see... I'll report any progress.

Yes!! Stomach bloating was awful and needed drainage to remove fluid.

Yes Xarelto mutilates your kidneys and that's what causes the fluid retention. Reduced kidney function, and they're discovering more downsides to this medicine everyday. I'v discontinued my use of the drug and magically my fluid retained legs and ankles shrunk and have been that way since

Yes I have been complaining about weight gain since taking Xarelto for AFib and the bloating is quite painful have been thinking of just stopping it and see my doctor. Hope you get some help with this .
