It is actually just a high dose multi-vitamin, so while it is commonly used during pregnancy, to make sure both the mother and baby receive all the nutrients they need, it can be used in other cases, as well.

A doctor may recommend it anytime they fear that a person is not getting the proper amounts of the vital nutrients their bodies need.
