A compounded white cream prescribed for relief from itching / skin rashes

Hi. I was given a jar of Triamcinolone 0.1% / Cetaphil 1:1 Cr and I was wondering if it's safe to use on dry skin? Thank you.
Well, what would work best for your condition is something that only your doctor can evaluate and decide. As to this topical treatment, it does treat much more than just the itching.
It helps relieve swelling, redness, itching, and many other skin problems.

Remember, your Derm has been treating this for years, and knows what is effective and what isn't. It is also commonplace for docs to try something that has been effective for other patients first, before moving on to more agressive treatments. Your best bet would be to try this, as prescribed for awhile, then if it doesn't help, tell your doctor, and I am sure they will move on to the next step in treatment which will probably be an oral med.
The reason they often try topicals first, is contrary to popular belief, they do work faster than oral meds, for a skin problem. When you take a pill, whatever it is for, skin problems, pain, allergies and etc. it has to be digested then pass through your whole body system and then, only a portion of it, usually gets to the exact area where it is needed, just because of the nature or your body and how your blood stream carries the med through it. By using a topical they are targeting the specifit spot(s) where the med is needed, making sure that the greater amount of the med stays right there where it needs to be used.
Why would my dermatologist prescribe this when I don't itch? He says I have Schamburg's Purpura. May or may not go away. Wouldn't an oral treatment such as Trental (pentoxifylline) be quicker in aiding the purpura?
