Sulfameth Trimethoprim 800 160 Will Thie Help Strep Throat

Will this help with strep throat ? As my mom is trying to make me take it.

According to an abstract from nih.gov, Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim is no longer commonly recommended by doctors for treating respiratory tract infections (such as strep throat) - as streptococcus pyogenes is believed to be resistant to this drug. This is not to say it won't work or that it never gets prescribed. However it does suggest that perhaps there are better/safer options out there of which I'd encourage you to ask your doctor about after an in person evaluation.

Besides that, if your mom doesn't have a full prescription you could end up creating an even stronger antibiotic resistant bacteria that only makes things worse. Visiting the doctor will ensure that you have enough of the right medication to completely eradicate the infection from your body and not just chancing it with something that isn't highly effective.
