my Dr prescribed Opana 40mg as alternative to Oxy 80 mg 2 twice a day which I would insufflate - I didn't tell him this of course. he claimed them to be just as good if not stronger can any one share about opana 40mg

Does Opana really work well for the long term pain? I have never tried it, but have been taking high doses of Percocet and they don't work much anymore! Needing to find something that will be more effective!!

I agree 100%! Nothing pisses me off more than people who claim a " headache", means they need narcotics. I am not against anyone with valid physical ailmennts. But come on, when you snort your meds, shootem up, or just cant follow prescribed med orders, and eat them up like pez. Don't f/u real pain sufferers lives, by abusing our Drs. You too may one day need the same medicine for a real incident, or accident. Who will trust you then when you've burned your bridges.

My physician gave me a discount card for opana that is good for one year. It reduces your cost to $25 a month. The reason the makers of Opana did this is because it is extremely expensive. Ask your pain med doctor about that card

You are not stating facts. You are stating family experiences. Unless you are a physician please do not claim to be stating facts. Not everyone with chronic pain taking pain meds daily is or will eventually be an addict. they're body will be addicted but does not necessarily mean they will be addicts in the true sense of the word. As with many drugs your body becomes dependent on it for example, anti-depressants.

I got on this website, forum, actually looking for some information that could help me regarding opana vs oc. All of the addicts and haters have ruined a forum that could have provided useful information. Snorting these pills have made you hateful towards others and NO ONE cares about the snorting of your pills. Believe it or not there are some very sick people in a lot of pain, like me, who would find it refreshing to find a website I could read without wasting my time with all of you who give the people who need the meds for pain a bad name. You are the reason it is so hard to get med adjustments without them thinking you just want to get high. Jesus, do you have any idea what you sound like bragging about how many oc you've snorted and with what. Stay of this forum if you don't have anything constructive to say. PLEASE

I have osteoarthuriest and have tried eveything my doc is willing to give me. iI take the 80mg 2 times a day. It helps but I could really use 3 a day, because i also have RLS which has been driving the only thibg that will stop RLK is one problem the oxis only last 7 to 8 hours. I cant take the 60 because Im allergic. I have taken everything on the market for RLS does anyone know what will help. Like i've said I have trien Ask some for r plsse

Hey Gunney, just checking in on how things are going for you? I hope you have managed to find some relief. My doctor has finally given me 150 15 mg oxycodone immediate release but has given 10mg Valium as well for anti anxiety due to the pain as well as muscle relaxant and to hel me sleep I am praying and hoping he will soon move me up to 30 mg oxycodone immediate release becasue while the 15mg works it only lasts for a couple of hours and I am now feeling a dull aching so they are not working as well as they had before. But seriously how have you been doing with your pain management? Let me know! I strongly suggest the fantanyl patch, you may find it works well for you, let me know how things are going for you buddy.

I am just curious if you have had no experience with narcotic pain medication then why would your Doctor prescribe you 80mg Oxycontin? You should have been started on a much lower dosage like Percocet 10/325 0r 15mg roxicodone, you should seek another physicians care, that just sounds a little fishy and at such a high dosage that is probably the reason for your vomitting and other after effects.

I have been on percocet 325/10 for 3 years, they have since quit working as well. I want to go on Oxycotin, but my dam insurance won't pay for them without a PA and most of the time they still won't! I have been reading up on Opana and was wondering if they are as effective as Percocet? I take 1 1/2 = 487.5/15 an that gives me relief for about 3-4 hours is all, then I need more! I took Morphine Sulfate 10 mgs before the percocet and I had NO relief at all, do you think Opana is stronger than the Morphine Sulfate? I am trying to find something that will work. I know if I take Oxycotin, I will have to take a breakthrough pain med, will I have to if I took Opana? Any advice will help! Thank you.

Dear rford61, It sucks that your insuance doesn't cover Oxycontin. I'd like to tell you a secret, Oxycontin c.r. does have a Presciption Savings Card. This card will cover up to $70 off your out of pocket expenses on each eligible prescription for Oxycontin after your initial out-of- pocket payment of $25. The only down-side of this is the Oxycontin program must be done/ or filled out by 3/31/11. I urge you to call Oxycontin, and apply for the next Presciption Savings Card in March 1st- 15th of 2012. Sorry you can't take advantage of it until then. Contact Purdue Pharma for online processing, at their Help Desk. The phone number is listed at Purdue Pharma. Talk to your Dr. as he/ she should know about this program. It took me several yrs. to find it on my own. listen pain is terrible fact, but i think its funny how people like to throw rocks at drugs addicts, the thing is if you have have been taking so many pain killers for years your a drug addict and just dont know yet,,try lowering your dose, or even try different natural things people have lived with some pain before, im not sayin people should live in pain most addicts who abuse these started from gettin them for pain and were cut off the other people took them for mental pain which is not the right medication but people do the wrong thing all the time they should see the right specialist, i know this from family experience when your taking pain medication you are not yourself you can say u feel normal but it messes with yur natural chemicals and when its time to lower the dose or get off its a big thing im not looking for a argument just stating facts

to the person 'snorting' any kind of narcotic.......are you nuts??? That's not the intended dosing quidelines, and are you taking this for pain? You need to get honest with your doctor, and at the very least.... yourself!
Why are you doing this? i don't understand...... does it make it stronger, more effective, work better? Would like to know why you think 'snorting' this or any narcotic is the better way to administer this medication? Please explain to someone that 'just doesn't get it'.

Hey Gunney try the phentanyl patch 150 mcq I believe it is I have taken them before and they work wonderfully in conjuncton with you IM 30 mg roxicodone you should be feeling much better.

I'm on 2 opana 40's a day 1 every 12 hours, and 3 oxcycodone's for break through pain every 8 hours and the combination works pretty good. I still hurt but I have severe back problems. I've tried all the other meds and they dont even compare to the opana's. I would be put on those with something for break through pain. Also Fentynal aint worth a s*** excuse my language.

MS Cotton is "Morphine Sulfate" which is just Morphine in a pill form. I was on them and found them to be useless and non-effective.

I was taking 4 -80mg oxys a day about two years ago,I
got changed to 2-40mg opanas a day.Of course I had to adjust to not having as much meds,but the opanas are good for my knees (which need replaced) My pain level is tolerable. I would not trade my opanas for 2-30mg oxycodone at one time.

I am so glad to hear someone with RSD found some relief. I was diagnosed with the monster two years ago and I am just about to hopefully win my disability case. It's been hell to find the right doctor and I think I have finally found him. All the past doctors had me on all these muscle relaxers that didn't to s*** for the pain, they just made me a zombie. I had no life, not that I do now. I just turned 35, went through a miscarriage and have been sleeping 10 to 18 hours a day. My knew doctor took me off the muscle relaxers and since I had been on Oxycodone 10 mg for the past two yrs he put me on Roxy 15 mg and ms con-tin 10 mg. I am also on Cymbalta 120mg daily, Topomax 400mg daily, Trazedone 300mg nightly, zanaflex (if I need it), I can't remember anything else. Anyway, I know the hell you've gone through. RSD changes your whole life and everyone looks at you and sees you as a normal person but inside your screaming. This doctor actually listens to me and is not afraid to write prescriptions that will help me with my quality of life I need so badly. I have been so depressed. I don't even care if I get out of bed most days. The weird thing is that the Roxy 15mg was like taking Tylenol for me, but I would have to take two of them which I shouldn't have had to do. The morphine helped a bit but at night it would just knock me out. At least I was going to sleep early and actually waking up at a decent time, rather than 7pm! But I was still in horrible pain. He had made an appointment for me two weeks later and at that appt. I told him the situation and he said sometimes the reason for the Roxy not working and it still being in the oxycodone family is the manufacturer. So he put me back on the oxycodone 10mg but wrote my script for 180 so if I needed to take two I could. Then he wrote me a script for Opana 10mg for a trial basis to see if they would work for me and if I liked them we would try the extended release. He said I needed something that works around the clock as well as something for breakthrough. The Oxycodone really works well for me but hearing about all these changes with the Oxycontin, which I've never taken I don't really know what to think about that. Have you ever tried that. I think you mentioned something about Methadone? I might be mistaken, but since you have had RSD a lot longer than I have do have any advice for me on any medication that has worked for you or is it what you are taking now? I now you are on the high doses because of how long you've had this disease I hate that for you, my blessings are with you. I hope one day there will be a cure in our lifetime, but I am not very hopeful at this time unfortunately. I used to be a very optimistic person and always look at the positive side of things. But after dealing with this chronic pain day after day it has gotten to me and something inside me has changed. I am not the same person I use to be. I use to always have a smile on my face and now it's hard to find anything to smile about. I am trying though, I really am. Blessed Be to you.

theb opana 40 works the same 4 pain as the oxy 80 but it seems different becaus it gives you a different feeling than the oxy that may be y your mite think the may not work as well I JUST WISH THEY WOULD HAVE NEVER DONE AWAY WITH THE OXY 80MG OC TO THE OP THE OC'S EVEN THOUGH THEY WORK THE SAME I LIKED THE WAY THEY MADE ME FEEL BETTER BUT I GES ITS BETTER GETTING THE OPANA THAN THE OXY 80 OP'S THEY MADE ME FEEL SICK AND DIDNT AGREE WITH ME. I WOULD LOVE TO GET THE ORIGINAL 80 OC'S AGIAN SOME HOW THEY CHANGED MY LIFE I HAD ENERGY AND COULD WALK WITHOUT HELP SOME OF THE TIME ID ALSO TAKE THE 2MG XANAX WITH IT ID LOVE TO BE ABLE TO GET BOTH OR AT THE LEAST 1 OR THE OTHER IF U HAVE A IDEAS HOW

i take oxy 60mg now they op no more snorting them.but i have just heard about these opanas a dude that sells them said be careful.another guy did 3 and died from them.i have a very high tolerance but these are equal to 80 s if not stronger
